Podcasts + iPhone - what software

Hey gang, Is anyone else using their iPhone to keep up with both audio and video podcasts? If so, what software do you use? I've been playing with iTunes and...well, yuck.

    Netbook for the wife

Went with the Acer Aspire One. For both me and the wife (who has small hands) the keyboard is a bit cramped, but battery life is good enough. And it's pink, which my wife says is "hawt".

    Boneruses anDRaises

I get cost of living + the somewhat nationally standardized pay for my level of training (about $2000 more per year). My work does supply many perks and my cost of living is cheap, so overall I make more than most in my position.

    Use for old cellphone

Anybody try running the iPhone without a data plan? Most of the time I'll be covered by Wifi and I'm wondering if it would make sense not to have a data plan to save some money. At least during the months when I'm not traveling.

My Cruzer, purchased about 2 months ago, came with U3. While at first I formatted the thing and put on PortableApps, I later re-installed U3 as it will let me run an MP3 player on work computers.

I agree, that Pre looks nice, but what is the compelling feature to get a Pre over an iPhone or G1? I remain very interested in Android, but for now the only network that has an Android phone lacks 3G in my area.

    Use for old cellphone

This certainly isn't an impulse buy. I thought about it seriously when the iPhone first came out, and then again when the iPhone 3G came out. The only urgency is that my wife's old Razor is dying and with my busy schedule, I want a phone I can actually email and text message on so I can...

    6 years of StorageForum!

Wow, 7 years? Here's a bit of history: I was in grad school, studying a fair bit of statistics. I remember talking (on the phone!) with Davin some about setting up a reliability survey. From what I remember, his early methods were far from rigorous. I think I proposed a few ways to make it...

    Use for old cellphone

Hey Gang, I'm thinking of taking the plunge this weekend and getting an iPhone. I've been using a Motorolla Razor for 2+ years, and I'm not sorry to say goodbye. Other than easily fitting into a suit pocket, I haven't been a fan of the Razor. The keys are so-so, the menus don't make sense, I...

Evidently, I will be buying a $100 sound card in 2005

What do you guys recommend for a decent basic sound card these days? I'm currently using my on-board Realtek ALC883 hooked up to my Sennheiser HD280 headphones. I typically listen to NPR radio or MP3s; I occasionally care about sound quality, but usually don't. Would I get any benefit from...

    Netbook for the wife

Hey Gang, Hope everybody is doing well and staying warm this holiday season. It's currently about 0 F outside, and feels like -22 F with the windchill. My folks are looking for a gift for my wife (thank God our families get along so well), and suggested a price range of about $300. My wife...

    More Vista nonsense

From my previous University I got both Office 2007 and Windows Vista Ultimate for $10 a piece. I've found Office 2007 to be mixed, although for poster creating I've found the Excel-PowerPoint integration to be wonderful. I just installed Vista on a spare HD, and found it to be nothing special...

    Hardware firewall / router

Hey gang, A few weeks ago the wife and I were re-arranging the basement office and unplugged our networking gear, and when we plugged in the old wireless router it failed to turn out. Haiku Operating System

It was 1999, and I had just built a dual celeron 400 system using an Abit BP6 and I think 128 or 256 MB of RAM. The thing made BeOS fly. It was around the time that I was experimenting with Linux, and BeOS was much simpler to install which was a big plus, and it played back MP3s, the major...

Low cost / High performance build suggestions

    low-end laser printers these days?

    Monitoring PC usage

Hey Gang, My parents business is adding a computer in the office, and they want to be able to 1)see what websites the employee is going to, and 2)how much time he's spending. They were thinking about something like NetNanny, although I cringe at the implication of using child protection...

Since I'm now 80 miles away from most friends and family, and generally about as responsive to computer help requests as most of my sedated and intubated ICU patients, I'm sending friends and family to a local mom & pop shop. Office computers - dual core these days?

When you guys are building basic office systems, do you specifically use dual-core chips? My parents need a basic business PC, and it looks like Athlons are going to be the cheaper route and I need to decide between something like an Athlon 64 3500 vs 4000 X2.

Cable speed sucks - router to blame?

Well, apparently when Linksys says that to reset the router you need to hold down the reset button, what they really mean is that you need to unplug it and hold down the reset button.
