    Online backup

Anybody using an online backup service? I'm considering something like Mozy, based on my father-in-law's recommendation. My upload speeds at night are typically 1-2 Mbs which I would think is more than sufficient. $60/year is cheaper than a new hard drive. If I recall, Handy has used Mozy in...

Amazon's prices are lower than Newegg's?

Is Amazon still charging more for items that you've been looking at? I seem to recall a few years back that if you were looking at books on a particular topic, they would increase the price on those books slightly.

I've always preferred relatively cheap bags that I just replace every 1-2 years. I also prefer bags that don't look like laptop bags.

    Wifi router reccomendations?

Thanks, Handy. A 655 will be delivered later this week from Newegg, and I hope to install it shortly thereafter depending on my degree of sleep deprivation. I've read about the ability to give friends internet-only wifi access, which will be a nice plus. Thanks for the reference to Monoprice...

Any reason I can't use my old (some >10 years old) Cat5e (one cable says "enhanced Category 5 350 MHz") cables for gigabit ethernet? Any reason to buy new Cat6 cables?

    Wifi router reccomendations?

Time and Handy - thanks for the opinion on the D-link 655. The thing the 655 lacks is dual-band and dual-radio - but I honestly don't think I need that and would prefer to save the $50 that something like the Netgear 3700 would cost me. I'm off to Newegg shortly to use my Christmas gift card -...

    Wifi router reccomendations?

Just got back from Ohio - whew! I was asking about NICs because I thought my wife's PC only had a 10/100 onboard NIC. Now that I'm home, I've realized that it is indeed a 10/100/1000 adapter, just like mine. Also, I'm on a cable connection.

    Wifi router reccomendations?

Anybody have a suggested gigabit NIC? Preferably one that I can use in XP, Win7, and Linux? Any reason to favor a gigabit NIC that sits on a PCI-e versus PCI bus? I may be interested in doing large-ish backups afterall.

    Wifi router reccomendations?

So many things to consider: - I'm still debating if I should go 802.11n or just 802.11g. - A USB port to plug in an external HD would be nice, but not critical. - Any reason to get gigabit ethernet? There's only 2 (soon to be 3!) people in the home, and if I recall, HDs still can get flooded...

    Wifi router reccomendations?

Anybody have a particular wireless router to recommend? My old router is dying (ports keep failing). I use an iPhone (802.11g) and my wife uses a netbook (802.11g) around the home, and we have two other PCs connected by ethernet cables. My needs are pretty basic. I know nothing about wifi...

SSDs - State of the Product?

Somebody brought up the idea of a flash drive on a PCI-e channel. Is this likely to happen soon? Is this the likely evolution of the product? Will it significantly increase performance? I'm curious, as I'm starting to think about my next system build.

She's coming from XP. I'll run the checker program but she uses most of what I use, which works fine in Win7. Even our multifunction Brother printer is Win7 certified.

Getting the identical RAM that's in it now (2x1 GB) will be $65. I'd like to know if the E7200 will be enough before I give her the new HD it will take and a flier for Win7 with the explanation that I'll install the new OS. I've been testing Win7 now for a few weeks and like it.

Hey gang, My wife's computer (E7200, Gigabyte EP35-DS3L, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128337) has started to randomly reboot maybe once per day, and it hangs for a long time (5-10 min) during the BIOS screen where it says "memory testing:".
