    Sasser creaor caught

Yes that's true. Everyone that I've helped with the sasser virus has been told that this kind of attack is completely preventable... for free... without any technical knowldge. Simply go to the windows update site once a month or every 2 weeks and let it decide what updates you need and...

Fedora Core 2 Test 3, very satisfied so far.

I've been pretty impressed with the yum updating system since fedora's 1st release. The only driver issues I've had were kernel problems that have been fixed in subsequent realeases. One thing that I do not like about fedora is redhat's view that they should change packages around at their...

[NEWS] - Athlon XP won't have PCI Express support

Good thing SiS has had PCI express in their roadmap for some time. Their southbridges should work fine for A64, AthlonXP, and intel chips... but ultimately it's up to motherboard makers to implement SiS's chipsets this way. VIA of course has plans for PIC-E chipsets, however it may be planning...

    CD Media

What I means is that while there are others out there (memorex seemingly the most popular) nothing else is even worth buying compared to verbatim. Verbatim is synonimous with quality media in my opinion, and they also seem to be the 1st to manage bringing higher speed disks to the shelves...

    Fastest, most reliable Smartmedia

For smart media i dont think there are really any gurantees. I would get the capacity you need... If you can you could buy a couple cards and return the slower ones... It's going to be more expensive than just one card, but atleast you'll get what you want.

    New SATA specs

Efficiency isnt the name of the game, it's about speed. And if you can get 150MB/sec out of 1.5gbps raw bandwidth it's better than getting ~100 out of a 133MB/sec interface. anyway, it's only 75MB/sec lost (decimal gigas). Personally, I dont mind loosing 2 in order to send a byte of data.

As far as I know there is no way to password protect a CD, however you can use a container like PGP, zip, RAR, etc to password protect individual folders or files. But this relies on the necessary program being installed on the end user's machine. You could easily burn a copy of PGP tools...

    Gaming off the LAN? Feasibile?

i think you're going overboard... games dont rely that much on the hard disk, and even when they do it's to load a map or something which usually goes pretty quickly and the downtime is apreciated anyway (bragging, stretching, taking a bathroom/snack break, etc). It's not just the fans, you can remove them completely and it can still be noisy because of the huge 12CM hole in the front and rear of your case that lets noise escape directly out of the computer. For this reason i prefer 80mm case fans... 92mm proabbly being good as well.. but 12CM is just...
