    What's up with this?

I believe the coast slot was more beneficial to OEMs, as they saved a few dollars on each mobo by not including an L2 cache. If someone was smart enough to know what L2 cache was and that it was "better than not having any" the OEM could charge 5x the market rate for the upgrade that was...

[NEWS] - No more "Built by ATI" cards

I think VIA outsources it's manufacturing to a big name (maybe MSI).. however, they have sold some mobos under their name. I wouldn't doubt if AMD has done exactly the same. Don't think I've ever seen an ALI or a SiS made mobo. Don't remember if UMC ever made mobos under their name or not.

Terminator 2 in Hi Def, upgrade your CPU

That is kind of disturbing. The owner that authenticates you might some day go out of business or the owner of the content might one day sell it, either of which coule leave people with a worthless plastic disc. I hate the idea of erroring on the side of the recording industry.

    IPv6

I used to do some business for an ISP that had two types of cable modem services. On one service, they offered static IPs and a decent up/down rate for the standard $40-$60/month. On the other service they offered a NATed LAN IP that was DHCP. This service was offered cheaper and fulfilled most...

    Budget upgrade challenge

i don't see a problem with the current vid card. The only reason to get a bettwer one would be if doing 3D type work. For a budget computer, sure go ahead and get onboard NIC and sound. Enlight Cases Still Good?

I don't run my fans at 7v. I don't trust things that way. I would rather run a resistor on the + line, but i don't have any at the moment that can meet the wattage requirement of that fan. If it were a 3pin fan I would just use a fanmate.

    Enlight Cases Still Good?

I was dissapointed with my Antec 3700AMB. It's pretty loud.. the 120mm fan at the rear is too slow in 5v mode and too noisy in 12v mode.. I would have prefered an 80-92mm fan instead. Also, my case was damaged in several places(all fixable with some glue) but it shows poor CQ on Antec's part...
