It isn't a great deal of "extra work" to mount a fan in front of the HDD cage using a dremel but it sure is nice when the case manufacturer has already done the ground work for me... unfortunately I don't get to choose the cases they just turn up in whatever they were installed in originally ;)

It's not all about the "bling factor" OR geek bragging rights, your going from "adequate" to more than "sufficient" higher tier PSU's which offer more like... Better thermal dissipation (bigger heavier heatsinks) Better PCB layout (improved component placement & airflow) Better quality...

It was always handy to "opt out" of a running application, at least that's what I've always used it for... The various distrobution flavours do offer a nice (and viable) alternative for the masses to Microsoft, even the tradionally challenged ATI graphics driver support in Linux has improved...
