It looks like the RGB stripe is reversed from how Windows is expecting it to be. That may cause the subpixel rendering to be incorrect.

Are the Samsung Galaxy Players any good? Similar idea to the iPod touch. Also, http://anythingbutipod.com was a good resource in the past. I haven't been reading it regularly recently though.

I have a 160GB iPod Classic in my car (My only Apple product. I own it in shame.). I use a 8GB Sandisk Sansa Fuze with a 32GB micro SD card outside of the car.

There are alternatives to the iPod, but none will work with iTunes.

Is DIY fixing the iPod she has now an option?

Personally, I'm interested to see how the desktop Haswell chips perform. The new instructions should help x264 encoding to some degree (once they add support for them).

I'm not sure about that. There are only 48 LEDs / "pixels" per meter on the strips. A 5m wall would only have 240 vertical pixels. Horizontal resolution would be similar since the IP65 strips are ~.75" wide. It's also not entirely clear how flexibly the controller can be configured...

From the datasheet it looks like it would require about 1 to 2 LEDs to hit the lumen output of a typical light bulb. The emitters are between 600-1200 lumen each when driven at 700mA. Obviously 1-2 LEDs isn't going to match the emission pattern of a normal light bulb. You could use more, but...

UPS charges quasi bogus brokerage fees for shipments between US and Canada. The fees are creations entirely of UPS's creation. They are not passing along costs inflicted on them by either the US or Canadian gov't.

Their license police will burst through your door and have you hog tied and fed into a wood chipper?!?!?!

I thought it was common knowledge to not use UPS for cross border shipments, and to only use the mail for this very reason.
