    Why are chargers so lame?

I don't know where the problem is - charger or phone. Between my wife and I, we have two Samsung phones, same type but hers is one gen older. Hers is a 2100 mAh battery; my next gen has a 2600 mAh battery. She's out of town now, and she's run off with my charger. I'm using her charger to charge...

Semi-pro DSLRs have so many controls it's mind boggling. Even the flash is. Since my D700 use is infrequent, I keep forgetting anything beyond AV/RV mode and the basic settings. When I'm in a hurry, I just grab the point and shoot.

Here's the script I downloaded and used. Instructions: Download, unzip, right click on aegis.cmd, click "run as administrator", follow on-screen instructions. I got the link from a tech newsletter, article in a tech journal (ARS Technica?) or some such. I went through all of the unzipped...

I want to buy a new car

I once rode in the back of a large taxi (Crown Vic?) some 55 miles to Newark Airport. Was the most uncomfortable ride of my life. The seat offered little thigh support, the back support sucked, and I was sliding all over the place despite being belted and the older driver driving sedately. It...

Just ran a script I downloaded to rid my Win 7 of the "telemetry" crap. It removes the concerned installed KBs, hides them so Win Update doesn't offer them, etc. May decide to just stay with W7 unless MS relents and backs off from tall the spying. Meanwhile Linux can only get better.

I want to buy a new car

Sometimes people's thinking is screwed up. At times it makes more sense to rent. The number of people (including the wife) that tell me I'm throwing away money every month is crazy. I tell them I'm living in a nice home they appreciate, and not on the street or a shelter. Isn't that worth...

Win 8.1 castrated (removing MS' spy features - there are some guides /scripts out there) makes even more sense now. It is sorta unlimited; I get 60GB per month, then speed drops from 8mbps to 512 kbps. The latter is so slow it makes checking web mail or net banking excruciating. We do hit the...

Considering all the issues with Win-10, I'm just wondering if I should buy a copy of Win 8.1 (assuming they are still available) since 8.1 will be supported a lot longer than the Win-7 I am running now. And then at some point jump off into Linux... Thoughts?

There are also reports of a KB for Win-10 that does not install properly. So Win-10 reboots, un-installs it. Then finds an update pending, so installs it. And goes on doing it. Besides, I'd hate for my contacts' personal details (name, phone #, address, etc.) to be available to someone else. I've read that for phone repair shops with the appropriate cables to connect the phone to a PC and appropriate sw, it's easy as pie to retrieve all the info on the phone.
