    Barracuda ATA V announced

I'd buy one if a) it is as quiet or quieter than ATA IV b) it is faster than the ATA IV. Right now I'd go for a 800JB since it combines excellent performance and very good acoustics (good enough performance to discount the Cuda's noise-level difference IMO). However, perhaps the 8mb cache of...

I cant try it either. The only thing I've got right now is a Hewlett Packard E-pc which doesn't even have a configurable BIOS... I wish I could change the memory settings on this somehow... or overclock it.

The AGKGA-Y (week 42 IIRC) are said to be very good overclockers. Incidentally I have one of those (XP1800) that I've managed to get working (apparently stable) at 1820MHz or something thereabouts using an Alpha8045 and cranked voltage up two steps in the A7V266E BIOS (whatever voltage that is)...

Steve, nice review and nice case - but what are those heatspreaders you're using? Or are those Corsair sticks with the built in heatspreader? For a quiet PC, you could also try the Zalman heatsink - not good for overclocking but certainly quieter than the Delta setup you've got there. See my...

    Quiet bits

The front fans on my Lian-Li case have a dust filter, and they're set on the ultra low speed (probably something like 6v). Theres only the PSU fans in there now (Enermax Whisper 350W). There are various small holes in the back of the case though which might be letting air in.

    Quiet bits

Yes, the Zalmans are indeed very nice to look at. But, in the 3 weeks or so I had them, they started getting pretty dusty. When I get back I think I'll have to take a can of compressed air to them or else they'll become very hard to clean. Keep that in mind.

Don't forget, Prof, like me, is using an A7V266E which gives temperatures arond 10C higher than other boards, which is supposed to be closer to the real temperature of the core. Mine runs at around 58-61C depending on room temperature, using a very quiet Zalman flower cooler.

Celsius is much more logical, since it is based upon the characteristics of water at sea level atmospheric pressure. 0ºC = freeze point, 100ºC = boiling point; 1 cubic centimeter (1cc) of water weighs 1 gram, the amount of energy it takes to raise 1cc of water 1 degree Celsius is 1 calorie...

    Athlon1.4 to AthlonXP1800+

There seems quite alot of interest for Athlon T-bird 1400s on the market - presumably lots of people have boards that won't take XPs, right now over here, the XP1800 costs as much as the 1400. So, if you can sell it it won't cost you that much. I'd certainly go for the upgrade - 1400's get...
