Which cam/lens for flowers? LM,Tan, ed, Handy?

Aah, I was going to ask about wind. Anytime I've tried flowers, wind has always been a real problem for me. Never shot in a greenhouse.

Another Digital Camera Thread - Point and Shoot

Will: The Eneloops have a lower rating - 2000 mAh as opposed to the 2700 mAh or so you can get now. But according to jtr, and live use proves he is correct, cells > 2000 mAh suffer from high internal resistance, and are unable to sustain high current outputs for long. That explains why my...

I ain't buyin anything but some Eneloops. I've had the benefit of having a PM chat with jtr, and his awesome advice has clarified my thinking and what I have to do - like a severely myopic guy who's now wearing glasses and sees clearly. Thanks everybody. But most of all, thanks jtr for the...

Thanks for the replies, guys. I read thru this entire thread, read some reviews at dpreview, and am totally confused. There's nothing but compromise after compromise. Going the dSLR route appears to be like signing an agreement to set aside 15% of my income for the rest of my life. First the...

Another Digital Camera Thread - Point and Shoot

Will, Thanks. I suspect any camera with a Li-Io battery will be able to handle the task. I am using good NiMH batteries - I have from 2300 to 2500 mAh Maha Powerex, Sanyo and Energizer batteries, but none of them can handle the task. They will last a week+ in cold temperatures for non-flash...

Another Digital Camera Thread - Point and Shoot

I was wrong. The new Energizer Lithium AAs I have put out 1.8v each. Thats 20% over spec: 7.2v instead of 6.0v (compared to Alkalines). And NiMH batteries put out 4.8v, 20% under spec (compared to Alkalines). So the Lithiums will be 50% over the voltage of the NiMH AAs. The manual says the...

    Something Random

I didn't read all of it, just the headline. In this day and age, when the most private of body parts are pierced and otherwise tortured, a rabid Blackberry user altering the thumbs isn't so far fetched. I'll bet somebody will actually be "inspired" by this story to follow suit.

Barracuda ES, worth the price over 7200.10?

Tim's experience exactly mirrors mine. Maybe the reason for the contradicting experiences people have with Newegg is because their different warehouses pack differently. IIRC, my drives came from Tennessee.

Migrating from Exchange 5.5 to 7 broke some things for us. 16+ hours on a support call to MS (US --> India --> back to US --> back to India --> back to US) did not fix anything, and we hung up on them and implemented a kludgy workaround on our own. It's still that way (Exchange 5.5 is running on...

Barracuda ES, worth the price over 7200.10?

The problem many times is that the insides are packed so loosely that the contents shift around quite easily. I won't be buying disk drives from Newegg again. In my experience, eWiz and Directron consistently package drives better.

When I first got DSL service (1999), Pacbell gave me an Alcatel DSL modem; worked well. It's still in a box somewhere. I wanted to, Tim, but it's horribly expensive. Being the Luddite I am, I moved from W2k to XP in June of 2006.
