I stick to coffee with pure refined white sugar. I take down 3 - 4 large mugs a day. I drink the occasional pop (I'm not sure what soda is), almost always regular. Diet Coke tastes reminiscent of floor cleaner.

    ASUS K42F-A1 Notebook

I also ordered Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 Licensed for 3 PCs. Seems like a decent deal for 3 "licenses." I personally use OO.o at home, but my parents will be more comfortable with Office (except that stupid ribbon).

    ASUS K42F-A1 Notebook

They wanted me to get something in the next week. Not really, but if a 15.6" model could really get 12 hours that would be nice. I hope the Lenovo I ordered doesn't have a glossy screen, those things are terrible in just about all light conditions. Most of the Asus notebooks I have seen have...

    ASUS K42F-A1 Notebook

My friend recently got the Asus UL30Vt-X1, which has the dual graphics. He says it gets ~5 hours of battery life. It is rated to get 12 hours. So, it looks like the Asus gets slightly better battery life, but it's not 2.5x as the specs say, and the difference may be even smaller with a 15.6"...

    ASUS K42F-A1 Notebook

I would rather get a Windows 7 unit. I was also looking at 14" screens to get a smaller unit, especially because the resolution is the same between the 14" and the 15.6". Though, the 15.6" might be easier for them to use since they aren't young (my Dad is almost 73). These will mostly be used...

    ASUS K42F-A1 Notebook

I'm going to be ordering two notebooks for my parents. I recommended something in the "large netbook" size, but my Mom prefers a larger screen, so I'm looking at 14" displays. It appears that most notebooks these days have a screen resolution of 1366x768 with screen size between 13.3" - 15.6". I...

    Virtual servers? How and why?

    Virtual servers? How and why?

I use VirtualBox on my Linux machine to run Windows XP and Windows 7. TurboTax doesn't offer a Linux version, so I used the virtual to file my tax return. I haven't really used it for anything else. We use VMWare ESX and ESXi servers extensively at work to run virtualized Windows and Linux...

    Interview prospective peers

I like Sol's approach of asking questions that require the interviewee to think rather than regurgitate facts. Opera

I use Opera for certain things on my Linux box, mainly for it's superior password manager. Firefox on Fedora is terribly slow (page rendering), so I almost never use it. Mostly, I use Chrome, though, I miss Tab Mix Plus, which I use to highly customize the tab behavior in Firefox.
  39. timwhit

    Opera

It's more complicated than that. If you open 10 tabs that are all pointing at the same domain then more than likely that will all be contained in one process, but not always. If you open up the Chrome task manager and click "stats for nerds," you can see which tabs are a part of which process.
