I really don't understand the aversion to nuclear power. This was just discussed yesterday on Slashdot. The majority of the comments there say it much better than I can, but the gist of it is that with spent fuel reprocessing and fast breeder reactors the waste problem is small. The only viable...

Could Cars Have Caused the Mortgage Meltdown?

Auto Insurance can vary widely by geography. This is a comparison by state, however I think the difference would be even more drastic if you could see it by city or zip code or some smaller geographic region. My insurance is around $1000 / year on a 2003 Nissan Sentra Spec-V. I'm single, under...

    Audio Equipment

I think you would be much better off just buying some decent front towers and a center. Skip the sub and the rears until you have more money to spend. I would also look to buy something used that cost multiple times more when new. Yes, speakers can be damaged and can wear out, but most people...

If you already have an idea of what you want, check out Audiogon. There's lots of nice stuff on there. My fronts are NHT 2.5i, I bought them in 2000 and I still love them. I believe I paid around $800 for the pair, they originally MSRPed for $1300 for the pair. I heard the Anthony Gallo...

    I hate Linux! (v. Ubuntu Server 8.04 LTS + RAID-1 + Encryption + LVM)

If you have enough RAM you can disable swap and remove the partition. I have 6GB of RAM on my Fedora box and I doubt I ever use any swap.

    CentOS 5.4 + WPA2 = Frustration

You would need to get the source. Apply the patch, which looks like it changes 1 line of code and then rebuild the package. Not worth it in my opinion. Or you could just change your key and wait for the next release, which will most likely fix the problem.

    I hate Linux! (v. Ubuntu Server 8.04 LTS + RAID-1 + Encryption + LVM)

You can resize partitions without LVM. I found that resizing a partition with LVM to be a much more complicated procedure than without. I have used GParted to resize partitions several times. There's even a GParted boot ISO you can use to resize your boot partition. GParted doesn't support LVM...

I run Fedora 12 at home and it is fine for a desktop machine, but I probably wouldn't recommend it for a server unless you need the latest release of various packages. Each version is only supported for 13 months from release, so Fedora 12 support ends around December 2010. Upgrading isn't all...
