    Where's 2003 server?

I think some HP peripheral users are still waiting for win2k drivers. Especially for those all-in-ones. Very poor support on HPs part. [/b]

    Where's 2003 server?

I wonder what happens if you remove the Tulip, install 2003, and then reinstall the Tulip. Would it shit itself? Demand reactivation and blab to MS that you've been a naughty boy? The mind wobbles.

    Um... like, hello!

I think as CPU speed and RAM capacity has increased so greatly, the hard drive doesn't have as much affect on overall performance as it once did. When people were running low end P2's with 64MB of RAM, then page swapping etc was much more pronounced.
  9. Pradeep

    Where's 2003 server?

Yes I heard rumours that it wouldn't support the Tulip. WTF were MS thinking when they had that bright idea?

[NEWS] - Canterwood stumbles at the gate.

For mass storage I use large 5400rpm IDE drives. I also burn this data onto DVD as time permits. The reason I am pondering SCSI RAID is that when editing, right now I go from one X15-36LP to another (booting off another X15). Using a Tekram U3D U160 controller. The x15.2s are in an SCA...

Now that Apple have changed their T&C reseller agreement, the iPod isn't such a great deal. Dell (amongst others) don't sell them anymore. With Dell often having 20% promos in Periphs, they were excellent value for money.

[NEWS] - Canterwood stumbles at the gate.

Thanks for the reply farm. Right now I have the TigerMP with measly 64bit/33MHz slots. My thoughts were of the RAID 5 performance of the current 320-2, which uses a different (slower?) processor compared to the 400MHz one used in the 320-2X. As it is for the home, massive IO is not a major...

    Not your Father's Cadillac

I still can't figure out how insurance companies in the US can get away with basing their premiums on credit scores. What does how you pay your bills have anything to do with your driving abilities? In Australia honold your car could prob be insured for under US$600.

Oooh 612 HP. Trust Merc to electronically limit the torque to "only" 1000nm tho :) I wonder how it will handle in snow?

    Not your Father's Cadillac

The Subaru WRX is nice, but I hate to think of the insurance costs of a turbo car in the USA. When you think that a Ford Taurus (about the equivalent of a Falcon) costs over US$1000 a year to insure (in NY).
  23. Pradeep

    Not your Father's Cadillac

Definitely I think Australia produces the most powerful cars for the least money. Sure a TVR would be nice but then you end up paying insane amounts for petrol and would have to live in Europe :p In the US it is difficult to find a car/truck with a 350V8 for less than US$30K+.

Sadly it is all true Tea, the corroboration of the judge who was onboard makes it pretty compelling. I can't find the link to the article where an air marshal left his gun in the plane potty. Or where another guy has an accidental (negligent) discharge in the potty. Boggles the mind.

Fujitsu MAS3735 results in SR database.

Still quieter tham the X15-36LP (which I don't find noisy). I wonder whether it is hitting some kind of bus limit at 80MB/sec? I take it they still run winXP with no patches? That could affect it to. Eugene said that subjectively it is not as annoying as the WD Raptor.

Sadly I moved to Aus after the great days of "throw a prawn on the barbie". Apparently the Urwins do live in Aus, or at least have some kind of animal reserve, but they are travelling around so much doing their filming it's hard to say.

You can be a reseller to get an action pack. It must be used only for internal business and testing purposes. It's a great way to stay legal for a small business. Merc, the one thing it doesn't include is the Visual Studio series/FoxPro. Or the early download access that MSDN users get. The...

I was thinking that it's prob backups, given the time of night that the slowdowns happen. Pair.com are using shadow drives on all their servers now, and besides giving a near identical copy of the primary drives contents, also reduces the disk load at backup time, because the backup is taken...

Terminator 2 in Hi Def, upgrade your CPU

What really excites me is the possibility of 1080p on computer screens. That's 1920*1080. There is no consumer TV or projector that can handle that, so a monitor is the only possibility at this time. Apparently MS say it can be done at less than 10Mbit/sec. Merc, is your Dad's plasma a 480p...
