LOL that is why Clocker has such a complicated scheme to protect his address. Anything that requires human thought to make usable is much trickier for a spam bot to decipher.

    UDMA

They prob fixed it in another location. IIRC the problem was that if drives were actually running in UDMA, win2k would show them running in PIO mode. If win2k shows them running in UDMA then they really should be. Also you will be able to tell from the lack of cpu util when using the disks.

    Intel Speed Step monitoring

There is nowhere in winXP where you can specifically set the speed you want when SpeedStep kicks in. However in the BIOS there are a few mysetroiusly described options, including max power saving, more performance etc. Remember in the BIOS you need to use ALT+P to move between setting pages...

They have this "price protection" scheme, which you can request within 30 days of invoice date, and they will compare the current price for your system to the price you paid (ignoring special offers/rebates etc). If the...

    Why do inkjet heads clog?

Oh yes, one of the major benefits of both laser and thermal is that they have far greater duty cycles than the inkjets. And speed.
  21. Pradeep

    Why do inkjet heads clog?

Pretty good, though they can't compare to a 6 colour inkjet for photolike quality. At least the entry level US$1000-2000 models can't. Also the cost of four toner carts is not cheap, tho I guess the cost per page is less than an inkjet. Main benefit is being able to print on normal paper...

    Why do inkjet heads clog?

OK I see the problem. It looks like the Epson tests just print one after the other till the ink runs out. The methodology is not clear. Now this doesn't really correlate with real life use, where one would prob print a few images, have a few days non-use, then some more etc. The clogging only...

    Why do inkjet heads clog?

When I say head clogging I mean that when I print the test pattern, some of the lines aren't printed. I do the head clean thing, sometimes twice, and the test print works fine again. I got the C80 when it was first released, so I would imagine that the inks were relatively fresh. Now if I were...

    Why do inkjet heads clog?

Absolute bullshit if I've ever seen it. I have used the original Epsons that came with my C80, and they clog just as much as the OEM tanks I'm using now. At least they aren't spewing the "non Epson inks will void your warranty UD that they used to spew. They are simply trying to justify their...

    Why do inkjet heads clog?

My Epson C80 requires a head clean at least once a week. Using geniune inks. I imagine that as the droplet size reduces, the chances of clogging increase. The C80 has 4 picolitre minimum droplets.

    What's a good photo printer?

I don't know about the older Canons. but the newer ones have the printhead seperate from the ink tanks. You can actually get a new printhead as a spare part (couple hundred $$$ tho). The main pain with the Epsons is the chip on the ink tanks, which makes refilling rather difficult (though there...

    What's a good photo printer?

I have the C80, I'm certain it uses black for black, because the blacks don't have the faint tinge you get when it is equal mixes of the 3 colours. I recommend it, prints on Espon Photo and HP Photo paper are very good. Uses the DuraBrite pigment based inks. I estimate probably 60-70 full 8*10...

Sudden Interruption of Download: Can you explain it?

Sounds like IE got a bit ahead of itself and declared prematurely. Hopefully if you wait till it is finished (in the background) and it has copied from it's temp location to the save location, it will work OK. Or you could attempt the dl again using a DL manager, if you don't want to possibly...

Well I just got my ass handed to me by Wraith. :mrgrn: Draygan was present as well. My skillz are sadly lacking. Things have certainly changed since the days of Doom2. UXGA was far too sloppy on this laptop, had to drop down to 800*600 to get it smooth. Touchpad gaming is tricky lol.

Sudden Interruption of Download: Can you explain it?

Well even on broadband the failure of a 100-700MB file is a pain in the bottom. Also with good intelligent use of mirrors, you can get better dl rates than you would get from a single source.

    Sony CD-R Technology

It's basically designed to enable the recording of HDTV to an optical disk, as opposed to the current route where you have to use either a D-VHS tape deck or a hard drive based system. The 36Mbit/sec is identical to the bitrate of D-VHS I believe.

    Best Used Laptop
