There was a pub called the Fox and Hounds. One day they were getting the big name on the front repainted. The landlord left the painter to do their thing, but when he came out a bit later on he had to stop them and point out their error. He said "You need to leave a space between Fox and and and...

GeForce 3 Ti 200: NOT a bad performer!

Instead of building such an elaborate cherade, why not just put up a table of all the chipsets and how they compare? It the prog is not checking the true memory performance (like the diffs between the diff Geforce4's) then it's a worthless piece of poo poo.

What has AMD got to do with Via's 4in1 shenanigans? I haven't needed to upgrade my chipset drivers for my TYAN TigerMP since I first built it. Prob something to do with the all AMD chipset?

Current Dual AMD Boards support future processors?

Yup definitely at least 2GHz, it appears there will be one last Palamino at 1800 MHz (2200+). In fact it will prob intro at 1900MHz. And then with SOI implemented later on this year, we should be good for 2.5GHz+ I'm not upgrading my dual XP 1.47GHz until I can get at least double the...

    Quiet power supply recommendations

I'm using an AOpen HX08 for my TigerMP. Only problem is I can't use the lower internal 3 1/2" bays because the DIMMS take up too much room. Also the floppy is right up the top and unreachable with a 24" cable. I only get the floppy out for BIOS flashing now so plug it in for those occasions...

Current Dual AMD Boards support future processors?

Definitely won't take the Hammer, but should take the 0.13 Athlon XP/MP no worries (as long as the voltage regulators can go low enough which they should). If you can wait a few weeks, hang on till the new Athlons are released and verified to be working on the dual mobos.

GeForce 3 Ti 200: NOT a bad performer!

LOL, the POS is probably looking for the chipset ID and giving out a standard set of numbers. No doubt that is why it got confused with the laptop chipsets.

If you can't decipher any of that gibberish above, basically, yes, it is normal for the client to dl a new user ID when run for the first time (as opposed to the username you provided and which will be used in the stats. It says no previous user info found because this a new install you are running.

    Genome@Home

Whe you say user ID do you mean the id number it retreives from the server? This is a unique number that is contained in the id.dat file I believe. You can have several instances of genome, all with the same username, but the id number should be unique for each. This is why it is important to...

What wrong with the classic GUI? Sure the XP Luna looks "pretty" and "nice", but look at all the problems people are having with the OS itself! I would rather the "old" version that actually works, rather than the new and shiny that doesn't. To me an OS is merely a framework for apps to work...

The client only takes about 20MB of memory, so excessive amount will not help performance. Generally with genome, clock speed is all that matters. Tho P4's are not very good performers in it.
