General question, mostly for LAN Gamers...

There are a couple of programs such as PcRdist (sp?) that will automatically rebuild the system after a certain amount of time has expired and the machine is restarted/shutdown.

    HP DVD100i DVD+RW drive for $339!

http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/detail.asp?dpno=208806 Only downside is it is the first gen model that can't burn DVD+R.

    How much RAM??

I often sit over 256MB with the dual XP 1.47GHz, but I haven't really gone over 512MB. Time for me to pull out the POS crucial dimm and get pure Nanya CL2 action happening :)

    Lite-On 32x12x40x + Acard SCSI bridge = A-OK

Very interesting. So it uses a floppy power connector for power? It would be nice to escape IDE cable limits for my optical drives.

    How quiet is your computer?

I haven't got SETI installed anymore, but I think I was getting about 3.5-4 hours per 2 work units (running 2 instances). But that was with a random work unit so who knows. Still, that is very impressive performance Bill :) 1.4 hours per WU is awesome. Looks like SETI really shines with SMT.

    How quiet is your computer?

4 instances? How does that affect performance compared to 2 instances? I find 2 instances of SETI on a dual takes slightly longer than 2 instances on 2 sepereate machines (bus contention I guess?)

    How quiet is your computer?

OK Buck, I'm going in to replace one of the Deltas with a y.s tech 27 cfm fan I have lying around. Hope I don't crack the core in the process :o I didn't buy these HSF's, they are just what the retailer bundled with the cpu's.

Dual 7000 rpm Deltas means I can't hear much else.

Has this site been slow recently?

Yeah they do have some stringent limits on the shared plans. But I guess the upside is that stability and availability is very good, especially compared to some hosting services I've seen (nice and cheap, but terrible performance).

    Looking for HD and CD-RW

Well according to that tool it isn't capable of burning CD-RW! It would be interesting to find out one way or the other.

Has this site been slow recently?

I notice they limit you to 5 databases of 20MB each on the shared plans. Is it possible to use multiple DB's to circumvent the 20MB limit?
  16. Pradeep

    Looking for HD and CD-RW

The problem with CD-RW is that the speeds were slow at 4x originally, plus you have to put DirectCD or InCD or some sort of software to allow you to drag and drop. Not to mention the time wastage involved in formatting. With Mt Rainier, the OS should see it straight away, and you can drag and...

Your name will appear once you submit your first result. The stats are updated every 3 hours or so, but it may take upto 12 hours for a returned unit to show up in the stats (they do a lot of checking for cheating and duplicate results).

Has this site been slow recently?

Does seem rather slow to me, even on dial-up. Certainly that new snap that existed when the site was first created is long gone. 80% sounds like pretty high utilisation for a web server.

The reason they don't post that spec is because all that it required is the lowest f-stop number possible. There is no "advantage" in posting a higher number.

    Tyan S2460 Troubles

I've had no problems with my 2460 and a Geforce2MX card, and presently an ATI Radeon 7500 AIW. I would say that it's either the PSU or the mobo from that description. Perhaps the last resort before sending it away would be to try upgrading to the latest BIOS (1.04)?
