    EaseUS backup software

My classroom PCs are triple-boot. I have to do amazing acrobatics of imaging software to make their image install at all. If I do a step out of order at least one and probably all of the OSes in the image will not boot and I have to re-image. There's a reason that basically nothing officially...

The new iPad - iPad 3

I really think 400g is a sweet spot. That's one of the reasons I'm so happy with the 8.9" Galaxy (470g). Did they fix the fact that ipads only have one speaker yet?

The new iPad - iPad 3

It's that 1.4lb. weight that I find bothersome. That resolution is much, much better than the ipad2, but as an e-reader or a camera, what the hell do you want with something that weighs two thirds of a kilogram? Well, and it still runs iOS. Maybe some Android hackers will fix that part though. :)

    New i7s

They aren't ALL too expensive. Entry level Sandy Bridge Xeons start at $200, comparable to Core i5 desktop chips. Yes, they need to be paired with expensive motherboards and expensive RAM, but most of us here buy expensive motherboards and RAM to begin with. I don't think I'd give any serious...

    New i7s

Intel finally got around to releasing 5-series Sandy Bridge Xeons. Dual and quad Socket systems can now join in i7 love at up to 8 cores and 16 threads per socket. Looks like somebody could build an absolutely monstrous 16-core system for about $3500.

    Android phones: Tips, tricks?

Just like computer gaming, I'd say you concentrate on what most people have (Android 2.3) and plan ahead accordingly. I'm not aware of any Android applications I use right now that require any newer release of Android than 2.3; almost everything comes down to either file manipulation or access...

Desktop pc freezes when using either Win XP or Win 7 OSs

I strongly suspect that the amount of work and aggravation involved in replacing your motherboard will be lower than continuing to troubleshoot an issue that will in all likelihood lead to you replacing your motherboard.

Desktop pc freezes when using either Win XP or Win 7 OSs

Well I just looked at this thread for the first time like 8 hours ago, but my intuition is that it's a motherboard issue just based on the variety and frequency of issues. It's relatively simple to slap in a different power supply and see if the issues go away. It's actually relatively simple...

In Microsoft's version of reality, they'd move to only supporting one OS and people would want theri tablet devices to be susceptible to the same malware bullshit so they could run a copy of Office. Android absolutely has a place, but it has drawbacks of its own.

If you do, it will be only just. You're seriously better of trying to do that with XP or with a Linux install. My classroom install of Win7 + Office is 28GB including the pagefile and hibernation file. That's not much room for useful data storage.

The install is just writing out a disk image. It's ridiculously straightforward. Mine runs on an 8GB SSD. Performance seems to depend on available RAM more than anything else. The support documents I've read seem to suggest that an individual zpool should have four or five drives in it. Mine...
