I got my Win10 update today; I backed up the Docs and Pix folders first. Twice. But they were still there after the reboot. But I don't use that PC much; I mainly have it in case family or friends have Windows questions. (And it had a big rebate.)

Since those are kind of Windows "default locations" to save documents or pictures, I would assume that there are a lot of "ordinary" people that could have been fodder for this disastrous bug. Hopefully, not too many of them actually had gotten that "(in)security update" installed.

Sorry for your loss. The sudden crap-out seems to indicate a hardware failure, so unfortunately, all your time-consuming diagnostics were in vain. But at least you have on-board video to "limp along" until you find a replacement.

To get the New Windows Control Panel, hit the Windows key - there's a little icon like a gear in the lower left, for Windows Settings. If you click that, enter "control panel" in the top search bar there, and you can get the old version, which has some overlap with the New one.
