You might look at Plextors site for a firmware upgrade or drivers. Don't know if it will help, but it's worth a shot. Also, installing SP4 might help if you haven't yet. Bozo :mrgrn:

What's the data path from NIC to hard drive.? The packets need to be stripped of their "to-from" info to be wrote to the hard drive, right? The info from each packet must be 'assembled' into a file to be stored on the hard drive. This is done in memory(?). Doesn't this take processing power...

The effects of a computer power supply on the incoming line to your home or business probably cannot be measured, as far as PF is concerned. To see some effect you would need hundreds of PCs on at the same time. Your refrigerator probably has more effect on the PF than a home PC. Bozo :mrgrn:

My point was that you need a high performance setup even if it is only a file server. Using a P3 or celeron with a slow buss speed will bog down everything, even if you are on a GB network. This is not the first time I've run these kind of test. Fast CPUs, fast FSB speeds, and lots of memory...

One other thing. All the test boxes were running a WD400JB hard drives. Box #3 had a Promise Ultra 100 card in it to let the hard drive run in ATA100 mode. Bozo :mrgrn:
