    Networking problem

Handruin: That fixed my problem :) I had seen that menu when searching for a solution but did not want to try it on a 'live' system. [ I also didn't fully understand what I would be changing.] Setting up a test PC and network proved it. The live system is now set up with the Ethernet as the...

    Networking problem

I have a PC with two network cards in it. One card is a TokenRing card at 16Mb/sec. The other card is a 3Com Ethernet card at 100Mb/sec. There are times when I move large files to and from another PC with both a TokenRing and Ethernet card. Is there a way to force the operating system (Win2000...

    The end of digital copying?

Just posting this here so everyone can see what some of our slime-ball congressmen are up to. I get the feeling that MS is somehow involved with this too. Do what you can to stop this nonsense. http://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/may2002/tc20020515_8741.htm Bozo :D

    Exciting technology

Cliptin: On the RAID setup, it was definately the hard drive that was being changed. I have since setup another server using two Seagate X15s. This adapter had an option to do "Write Through" or "Write Back". According to the help file, one (I forget which now) was not recomended as the data was...

    Exciting technology

I agree Cliptin: When setting up a RAID controller, I have seen an option to enable or disable the write cache on the hard drive. There is a warning that the data could be lost if there is no UPS attached to the computer. Also, in Win2k, there is a check box to disable write caching for a hard...

    Exciting technology

At the moment, we're going fast enough for most PC users. We have gobs of storage. We also have lickity-split memory, and plenty of it. How about the manufacturers work on quality and compatibility? Maybe the chipset makers could take a break with being the firstest with the mostest, and...

    Antec Case at bestbuy

The case is available at www.tccomputers.com for $79.95. That's a good price at Best Buy. Why don't you want a Antec power supply? The case does come with a fan holder infront of the hard drive holder. You can add one or move one of the two that come with the case. I just put together a system...

Where to find reviews on network switches?

Then there is the very large corperations. Some clown in an office makes a 'Deal' with some vender. 'Get the price down and we will buy everthing from you.' Then when you need something, you must deal with this vender only. Limits your choice to junk, and more junk because it is cheap. Usually...

Where to find reviews on network switches?

Corperations usually decide what they need in the way of a network. Then they have sales people in from various manufacturers/vendors. Then the decision is made based on price. The cheaper the better. When there is a problem, its the IT or Network guru that takes the heat, even though he/she...

    Intel Hyperthreading discussion.

That was my point in the beginning of this thread. Until AMD starts making their own chipsets that are reliable and stable, Intel will be the dominant supplier in the server market. Even if the AMD processor is better. I just ordered parts for a small server and I would have loved to buy AMD...

    Intel Hyperthreading discussion.

The problem with AMD in a server application is reliability and stability. Intels Hyperthreading may not be as good as AMDs latest processors, but until there are quality motherboards for AMD, Intel will still outsell them. About a year ago I assembled a computer that will be used in process...

I bought some 28cfm centrifical fans at Radio Shack. (the normal case fans are axial) The only noise comming from them is the air movinig. No beating blade noise. 75/60 GXP PRoblems Exposed ???
