24TB in a single box is now possible.

With 500GB hard drive now going for 130U$, it's a tough pill to swallow. The price will drop quickly. Wait a month.

Computer case : Arctic Cooling Silentium T2 Pro

No, it's still proprietary. It is the same width as the case, so there's more room inside for the airflow. From a ventilation point of view, this is a good thing, but of course, in the event that the power supply blows, it is a drawback. High quality power supplies have a far better life...

    Building new FAH/main PC

AFAIK, you cannot run the SMP client at the same time as the GPU client, so it's an either/or situation. SMP currently pays more than the GPU client. Based on this, my recommendation would be the following : Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (4x 2.4GHz) LGA775 Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme heatsink...

    General musings calculating power consumption

Maybe, but I don't live in Can-uh-duh. I live in Québec. And our climate is quite humid so we tend to run our computer inside our houses here. Inside mine, it is ~22-23C (except when I open the windows in winter where it drops to ~5-10C).

You can read a fairly detailed review of the Silentium T2 350W (first generation) at SPCR. Problem Installing Vista

Puking on Vista is a matter of principles. I'm sure disk tools do it by instinct. You would have had a lot of fun trying to make Aero work on a Ti200. With the hardware you listed above, you would have more success just installing WinXP and then adding the Vista theme for XP that is floating...

Any reason I couldn't add a Quadro FX 3500 to a Dell PC?

If you have to add a 149U$ PSU to the kit and still end up with a case with poor heat evacuation, you would be better off with a custom-made system with a good enclosure, like a Antec NSK6500 for instance. Even a SLK3000B with a 550W Seasonic power supply almost fits into the price of the PC...

    Personal Dilemma

Merc would need to steal the seat of a custom motorcycle to feel confortable on a bike. Plus, many bikes' frames are made for riders weighting less than 250lbs. Above this limit, a mecanical fairlure could occur and injure the unfortunate rider. Merc on a bicycle isn't a good idea.
