NEW: Matrox APVe PCI Express Graphics Card

Still a 2 years old design, selling for what a high-end modern graphic card goes. Not too excited about it. I hope Matrox's next GPU (due out next year) will be fully DirectX 9 compliant.

Connecting an eMac to a PC wirelessly for internet access.

I think the only wireless technology for eMac (colorful shitbox with a G4 inside) is bluetooth, but I'm not sure. The customer has cable modem. His PC is in the same room as the cable modem, but the eMac is on another floor and he needs to get internet access on it. Passing a cable through...

    Budget Gaming Card Conundrum

I finally bought a 9550 not-SE (got one with 128bit memory bus) and 256MB of RAM. I know there won't be any difference between the 128MB and the 256MB version of the 9550, but they were at the same price, so... Got it for 110$CDN with free shipping, so I don't feel that I made a bad deal...

    Budget Gaming Card Conundrum

The Radeon 9500 Pro has 8 pixel pipelines versus 4 for the entire 9600 flavors. Handruin's right when he writes that the 9500 Pro is faster than the 9600 Pro. I think the Radeon 9600XT is about on par with the 9500 Pro though.

    Budget Gaming Card Conundrum

Who makes fanless Radeon 9600 Pro? I can easily find fanless Radeon 9600, but not fanless Radeon 9600 Pro. I think a Radeon 9600 or 9600 Pro is the fastest fanless graphic card one can current buy (unless using a 30$ Zalman bulky heatsink, that is). ...The fan on the smallish heatsink of my...

AMD's stock are worth more than Intel!

I saw it coming and now it's done. Today, AMD's stocks closed at 24.85$, while Intel's finished at 24.01$. It is the first time since I follow the stock market that I see this. I'm not saying that it never happened before, but it's the first time I see it. Of course, the fact that Intel's...

another PC building question (hope you're not sick of them)

Well, the review of the GigaByte nForce4 board at Anandtech was very positive, but it is rumored that nForce 4 Ultra and SLI versions are only going to be used on +150U$ boards. The Neo2 Platinum (or similar socket-939 mainboards) are sold at around 135$. The difference in performances...

another PC building question (hope you're not sick of them)

IMO, you should opt for a 90µm Athlon 64 like the socket 939 3200+. The 90µm A64 eat considerably less current than their 130µm siblings. And their overclocking potential is quite high. Reaching 2.6GHz with them with standard cooling isn't exceptional. I also disagree with Merc's affirmation...

I've been able to access the bittorrent file and download from Red Hat's main server at 10:13am, eastern time. But the mirrors still aren't giving me access to Test 3 yet. Not that I care, I'll have the ISOs in less than 2 hours anyway.

    Walmart's $598 ECS Wonder-Laptop

Yeah, but with only 128MB of RAM, for a laptop, it will be VERY slow. RAM is crucial for notebooks. And 128MB would be intolerable even for a desktop, so for a laptop... WinXP won't be happy to run on this stuff.
