Mobile Athlon XP 2500+, anyone tried one?

The mobile barton dissipate less heat, but I don't think it has any performance disadvantage compared to the regular Barton, at least judging from the time it takes to complete an FAH frame. And since I can play with the multiplier on my motherboard, I don't mind the lower "by-default" front...

Mobile Athlon XP 2500+, anyone tried one?

This is a great little processor. I cranked mine at 2.25GHz and left the vcore at a scant 1.5V. It took it without problem. BIOS tells me that the CPU temperature is around 38C, wow. And I've only applied the Arctic Silver Céramic compound a few hours ago, so it's not fully efficient yet. I...

[NEWZ] Little Big Drive: 100 GB / 2.5 inchez

7200rpm 2.5" disks impress me more than 100GB 4200rpm'ers... However, it's good to see how much data can be packed in such a small area. One can imagine the insane storage capacity that could be done in a common ATX tower filled with these since there are 5¼ adapters that can hold four 2.5"...

...that comes bundled with a LanParty motherboard. I bought one over an Infinity Ultra something (with an nFarce2 Ultra 400) because it was on special and I tought the gagabit ethernet would be nice to have. But the retail box of the LanParty motherboard comes with so much stuff that I think...

nVidia and 3DLabs launch new graphic cards.

Quadro FX 4000 for nVidia and Wilcat Realizm for 3DLabs. People here using workstation-oriented graphic cards could tell us if there's a reason to drool or not. Personnaly, spending more than a thousand (or two) for a graphic card doesn't excite me much.

Stunning indeed. There are a few bugs left (I got stuck close to a pillar in the fourth room), but it's nonetheless impressive to see what they've been able to pack in such a small footprint. Sure looks better than Doom too.

I've seen the above on my price lists for a few months already. They dissipate 45W and fit regular socket-462. I've decided to give one a shot (will use it on a DFI LanParty Infinity Ultra B that I got on reduced price). I hope I will be able to reach at least 2.3GHz with it. Kingston PC3700...

    building a 1U dual Opteron

Why don't you just get something from Appro or Angstrom instead? DIY 1U rackmounts are often less efficient cooling-wise than OEM-made solutions. Unless you can assemble the whole system for a lot less (doubtful, rackmount parts aren't dirt cheap), you should seriously consider an OEM system...

JoJo, Did you check the md5sum of the ISO files you've downloaded for Fedora Core Test 2? Did you verify your medias (discs) during the installation at least once for each disc? Your problem could be with corrupted data and not with corrupted OS. It happened to me often.

    New car time ... confused

Subaru cars, at least the models sold here, are relatively thirsty compared to cars from the competition with a comparable engine. The Impreza, last time I checked, bust 10L/100Km with a 4 cylinders engine. That's equal to a Honda Accord with the new 240 horses V6. I doubt it'll do 600K on...

    RAID 0 - a call for a metareview

ECS uses double-sided tape for their KT400 mainboard too.

And the board works. I found out that S.O.S. iron wool does wonders to clean glue leftovers on heatsinks. Too bad I couldn't use it on the north bridge itself. Overclocking didn't work. Probably caused by the poor heatsink I placed on the CPU rather than the motherboard. At the default...
