New betas of Mandrake and Red Hat released

I pushed what? Me think you are mistaken me for someone else. Never tried Knoppix myself. Hard to push when never tried. Next things I'll push will probably be Amiga OS or Mac OS-X, both of which I have never tried.

I'm trying to sell on eBay for first time

Evil Blake. I had already all packed up my box with myriad of foam bubles when you asked that. The cable has 6 connectors : one for the HBA and four for the drives, plus the terminated one. I also bundled three or four old games I had (Star Trek Nemesis, Messiah, Thief and another one I...

ZDNet : Microsoft should rewrite Windows.

Read the whole article. It's a great idea, except for the fact that the author seems to ignore that Microsoft is there to make money, not for the good of humanity. So forget the rewrite in reality. Although the computer world would need it, Microsoft, itself, doesn't.

Case for 10HDs (with 18" of a PCI slot)

Antec SLK3700AMB Comes with a 350W PSU and has front and rear holes for 120mm fans. You'd need 5¼ to 3½ braquets for one or two drives (depending if you have a floppy in this box or not). All drives should fit within 18" of the HBA.

    Voodoo 5500: worth replacing?

I would say that it depends on how much spare money you currently have. If you ask the question, it's because you are already tempted to upgrade up to a certain level, so if you don't, you'll keep thinking about it. I know the feeling. I felt the same for the last 6 months and broke at the...

Processor or Fan; Chicken or Egg.

Good guess here. However, unless the Intel motherboard is quite cheaply made, it should be able to feed a TMD fan. Most motherboards can supply at least 3W to the system/CPU fans per header. I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think the TMD fan can blow up past 3W of power...unless maybe...

    1TB RAID 5 array

Hmmm...a 6 drives RAID 5 array on a 32bit PCI bus plus a gigabit NIC. You'll be more than bus limited, you'll be bus choked. If you look at the overall setup cost, adding a higher-end motherboard with 64bit PCI slots wouldn't increase the total price in % term. Unless you badly need 1GB of...

Did You Know You Are Rich? About Taxes & Tax Reduction

Your flat tax better be really low if you don't want to harm people with a low income. And that'll make you miss a lot of revenue from the upper class. Flat taxes is bad, no matter how you look at it. If you don't agree then you don't know what's being poor.
