    Considering K7S5A Pro

I'm about to build (and sell shortly after) a system with old parts and a K7S5A Pro too. Good to see that it seems to be a easy board to work with.

    Compucase CI-6606 300W for AthlonXP 1700+

AFter a bit of research, I found out that Gainward has a 128MB model with 64bit wide memory bus, but it's the only 128MB model I'm awared of with the crippled bus. All the others 64bit memory cards were 64MB models (several from Gainward - designed as lite versions, the SL-5200-CD from Soltek...

    Compucase CI-6606 300W for AthlonXP 1700+

I never wrote anything about DDR memory on the GeFarce 5200FX. I wrote that some of the 64MB versions have 64bit wide memory bus. I never wrote it could be SDRAM memory. AFAIK, there are no GeForce 5200FX with 64bit SDRAM memory. There are a few with 64bit DDR memory (but only on the 64MB...

    Compucase CI-6606 300W for AthlonXP 1700+

A GeFarce 4 MX is kinda outdated. You would be better off with a Radeon 9100 64MB (the 128MB version doesn't add any performance worth of) or a GeFarce 5200FX 128MB (beware of the 64MB versions as some have only a 64bit wide memory bus). I would personally opt for the Radeon 9100 as it is...

    Compucase CI-6606 300W for AthlonXP 1700+

It should, unless perhaps you overclock the Athlon to insane frequencies. I doubt the PSU has dual fans, so be sure to put a decent 80mm fan in the rear to exhaust the hot air produced by the CPU. I once used a cheapo no-name 300W PSU to power up a dual 2000+ Athlon MP platform. I tried to...

    surfs up, lets go!

Steve, I hope this was meant to be funny. Hammerhead sharks are mid-size sharks. They rarely mesure more than 10 feet long and they are much ligher than great whites. The only shark that could have been that big was the now extincted carcharodon megalodon, a 60 feet long great white shark...

Nope, it's a shark. And by the shape of the fin and its size compared to the swimmer (around 4 meters long I would say), a great white. Dolphins' fin is lower on their back and it isn't as sharp. Dolphins have a horizontal tail, while this one is vertical. Also, Dolphins' body near the tail...

Some interesting anomalies - the drives tested (purchased retail) perform on par with the BETA drives tested by SR and X-Bit - which raises the question, did some BETA models make it into the wild, or has WD supplied SR and other review sites "optimised" drives (a la NVIDIA)? Their online ordering system sucks. You have to provide a valid e-mail address and they contact you later to give you details about shipping cost. No way AFAIK to know how much they'll charge to ship your order else than the e-mail exchange. This is slow and inefficient. Buy there only if...

Dual-phase VRM. Not very interested. I had a choice between this one and the Shuttle 38N two weeks ago. Chose the Shuttle and I don't regret it. The Asus has more features, but doesn't seem as reliable IMO. I would get the Shuttle 39N (KT400 instead of the KT333CF of the 38N) over the A7V8X-X.
