    Nice and cheap server tower.

Those three Casetek chassis are very tempting too. 53$ to 55$ each, depending on the color. Anyone has seen those available to Canadian/Québécois customers? I want to get rid of two of my older systems and I need to replace the towers.

Bow System S-6000. No PSU, but 57$ shipped but only in USA. Too bad, I would have needed just that these days.

Shuttle AK38N : 62.61$ shipped here, worth it?

Got the board. Not tried it yet. I'm leaving to work in ten minutes. Just wanted to say that Excaliberpc placed 10 CD-R 8X max with the board, so the overall deal isn't as bad as it first looked. Nice from Excaliberpc. Doesn't increase my love for UPS though. Let's say that I give a...

Shuttle AK38N : 62.61$ shipped here, worth it?

I don't remember in which thread it was but e-dawg asked me about my experience with Excaliberpc and the dreaded UPS shipping. Aweful. The Excaliberpc part was fine, but ordering via UPS from the States is a disaster. The little board I was supposed to pay 62.61U$ (87.01$CDN at the moment...

Go to Montréal (especially Mont-Royal). Or even better to Québec. I've never been to Toronto, but Montréal is supposed to be very good looking compared to most other North American cities. In the States, try Boston. Apparently, it's a very fine place. Doug could probably tell you more about...

Technically, Québec is no longer part of the Canadian constitution since 1982. The referendum are only to make that separation official, but IMO, if you're no in the constitution of another country, you're not part of it. Anyway. Take a walk in Québec and take a walk in Toronto. Then dare to...

That's great news Gary. I've been asking for exactly this to happen for the last three years. 2.5" drives are the way to go. I'm tired of the big and clumsy enclosures. Can you imagine how many 2.5" drives would fit into two 5¼" bays if placed vertically like in these modules for 3.5" drives?

China doesn't represents a billion customer potential. Unless it has changed a lot in the last decade, something like half (if not more) of its population still has a lifestyle dating from another century (not the twentieh either). Which components for a basic, high-reliability system?

In fact, you're a (fairly good) software guy taking thru his ass about hardware. But that's ok. We need debates. A modern motherboard with cpu overheating protection ill shut down the system before the Athlon dies. What's the reasoning behind the piano part and how's that part more revelant...

Why spending that much on the motherboard? Does your father really need all those add-ins the VAXP has? IMO, a better value for him would be either the KT400A-based GA-7VAX-A at 70.62$ or even more the Shuttle AK38N based on the KT333CF (CF because it uses the updated VT8235 south bridge) at...

While this belief is wide spread, it is wrong. Two months ago, I cleaned up and reorganized the wires inside my main computer case. When I powered it up, I notice a significant drop in noise. I assumed it was because I removed the dust from the system fans. Five minutes passed, four of them...

That's the trick people having problems with VIA and ATI drivers never seem to catch. Looks flimsy, but airflow should be good. Don't expect it to be silent though : the metal seems too thin not to fibrate and insonorise the interior components' noise. For 75$ shipped, the best case you could have is probably one of those.
