    Iraqi crisis explained...

Time hit the nail on the head. U.S and U.K. will both give big money contracts to companies of their respective countries (especially those who financially supported the party on power) and in return, they'll get oil for cheap. The most ironic statement I've heard thoughout this entire war was...

    Question about new system setup

If you bought a 9500 Pro, you won't be able to achieve 9700 Pro-like scores. At best you'll end up with glorified 9500 Pro-like scores. With a 9500 non-Pro though, it's a different story. I trust Groltz's judgement on the matter.

    [INFORMAL TEST] Hansol H711s

It looks like it is trailing a few generations back by looking at the spec sheet. Viewing angles and contrast ratio were not comparable to those of the newer models. If it's cheap and you think it answers the need of some of your customers (most probably office users), then why not. There's...

    Budget upgrade challenge

Looks like some of the cheaper Enermax enclosures sold at twice that price. If you want to increase your chances to like it, cut holes (usually with a dremel) where the fan spots are and put grills instead. The too tiny holes won't allow appropriate air flow and will cause an increase of the...

    Worry Free Booting in Minutes!

Linux's Kernel might be very stable, but the applications running on top of it are significantly less stable than the average of those for the Windows platform. XFree86 and friends are just too easy to freeze, it's frustrating. This comes from a Microsoft hater, so it should tell you...

    Budget upgrade challenge

Too bad you have decided to boycott Asus. Their A7N266-VM would have made it possible to stay below your 200$ limit. Others already gave a few suggestions not involving the graphic card (I don't believe that the integrate Savage 4 of the Biostar would be appropriated for image editing of any...

[NEWS] - VIA and Intel settle lawsuits

We'll probably witness a boom of VIA-based motherboards for the Pentium 4 platform as a result of the agreement. Expect Pentium 4 chipsets prices to drop too. Bottom line : good news for the customers.

    Question about new system setup

Either buy a 128MB 9500 non-Pro or a 9700 (then again, non-Pro offers better value). I know that Sapphire's 9500 128MB can be modified into a 9700. Some cards do it without problem while others can't since the GPU on the 9500 sometimes has some defective pipelines and enabling all 8 results...

Upcoming FIC and EPoX nForce2 on't share same design.

Just look at the PCB, can't miss the 6 transistors and three coils. VR-Zone : If some of the most recent EPoX EP-8RDA+ feature the new SPP C1 stepping, I strongly presume that the newer FIC AU13 does also. I'm pretty sure FIC launched this model partly because it features the official support...

    Any Asus A7N266-VM tips?

No, because since it only features a 2.1GB/s bandwidth, shared between the CPU and graphic, it shouldn't perform any better than what you see. It's about on par with a GeFarce 2MX 200 IIRC. This board isn't intended for gamers. And not even for games to start off. But it's a very nice...

    Any Asus A7N266-VM tips?

The Asus A7N266-VM is based on the nForce 220-D chipset, which only features a 64bit memory bus, not the dual thing like the 415 and 420 chipsets. So there's no dual-channel options for this motherboard.

Although the current FIC AU11 and EPoX EP-8RDA are basicly the same board, it won't be the case for their soon-to-come nForce2 boards with the C1 stepping (written A1 on the SPP) that will officially supports 400MHz FSB for the new AMD Barton. FIC AU13 picture : EPoX EP-8RDA3+ picture ...

[News] - AMD Hammer has an Anvil

I hope AMD's stocks will react well. Bought them at 12.25U$ :( Microsoft has every reason to push for AMD. The bigger AMD is, the smaller the market share of Intel will be and therefore, the least Intel will have influence over Microsoft. With around 85% of the PC market, Intel can now...

That's because your GigaByte doesn't have AGP/PCI bus lock when the FSB is bumped. Several nForce2 boards have this feature, which can be very useful when you have sensible peripherals hooked on the PCI bus.

    Antec TruePower PSU...same as ChannelWell?

Thanks for the link. The 420W is a different model than the 430W, but I see the thread. CWT must be one of Antec's suppliers for their PSU units. The 86$ 430W ChannelWell, even in case it wouldn't be the same as the TruePower, probably is a very high quality PSU nonetheless and surely worthes...
