That looks interesting. I'd actually rather have a drive bay for 2x 2.5" drives right now, though. I'd be telling my customers that they're "backup cartridges" or somesuch.

I'm fine with using the Y-cable. My gaming desktop system seems to be able to deliver enough power from one port, but notebooks as a rule don't seem to be able to. Lots of low-end business desktops have a problem doing that as well. Given that more systems than not need the Y-cable to be...

To put into perspective how quiet NSK3480s are, in a classroom full of them, powered on, with stock Intel cooling and 250GB Seagate or Samsung hard drives, the loudest thing is Pepsi vending machine that's 10m away in another room.

Mine are generic. I use these. I carry two in my tech bag and have another on my desk at work. They're OK but they need the 2x USB Y-cable for power.

    Best movie you've seen

Trek has consistently bad writing, more or less ignores human nature and, most importantly, features technology that always works and a total lack of dirt.

    Suggestions for changes/enhancements to storageforum

I strongly dislike the current form of Slashdot. It takes too damned long to make a post and it's almost impossible to tell what parts of a thread are new on subsequent visits. Fark has a really nice system for handling quotes that I miss on SF: you can highlight text, hit the "quote" button...

On another forum I visit, I like to argue the superiority of Star Wars to Star Trek, particularly as it relates to the horrible writing of the typical episode of Trek. There's a classic Internet Argument, though, about whether the Enterprise (in any form) could win in a battle against either the...

I haven't had many. I have more problems with using SATA optical drives in DOS than anything else. Well, it's another layer of error checking. Do you think Sony will kill Blu-ray?

Any way I look at it, I don't see a compelling reason to use WHS. Kali 'disposal' tax? WTH is this?

Indiana does not charge a tax like that. I can throw monitors in dumpsters all day long here and no one gives a shit. That is not a good thing. It's $16. If you can't handle a $16 charge for disposing of electronics you don't deserve to own them in the first place.

Kali 'disposal' tax? WTH is this?

Given the state of California's state budget I'm sure this up-front fee is doing some small amount of work in filling the gap. Indiana barely even has recycling, at least where I live. People do separate things, but the same truck picks it up and I've watched them throw it all in together.

Sort of. As I recall some of the library files are different and you can add the Linux ones to your BSD machine and most stuff will work. What I remember most about BSD compatibility with Linux was the way it was announced on USENET. The post was titled: "You may now play Doom"
