    Switching to IE 7

MS VPC is also substantially slower and plagued with compatibility issues when dealing with non-Microsoft OSes. Many people, me included, have had difficulty installing Linux under VPC. In comparison, I've seen .VMDKs for OSX/Intel a couple times. Plus, there are TWO free VMware products...

Oh yeah... Remember how nVidia used to have a really nice unified driver? That was the thing the pro-nVidia camp used to point to whenever they started their rambling and incoherent bitching about ATI. 8800s need a non-standard driver which is NOT the same one as the driver used by discrete...

    Switching to IE 7

Yeah. I usually leave VMs at 1024x786 in a Window so I can switch easily, but you hit CTRL-ALT to return input focus to the host in a full screen session. Alo make sure you install VMWare tools.

Turns out my issue with the 8800s was the power supplies. A 700W Seasonic has both cards running fine in SLI. Maybe the umpty-billion 12V rails help a bit. The cards I use are evidently picky about these things. Also, I think I hate modular PSUs. Stuff sticks out more. And it is quiet, even...

    Switching to IE 7

If you've already made your VM, you can switch to the even free-er VMWare Player... Unless you actually use the detachable consoles, it's perfectly fine. Also, I'm not aware of the Server key expiring, and I keep using the same one over and over.

How to restore IE7 toolbars to stock default

    Switching to IE 7

I installed IE7 because I was too lazy to except it from the Critical Updates on my machines. I don't use it. I don't care about it. I don't open it. VMs are really very simple to deal with. You install VMware server, make a VM by assigning some RAM (512MB if you have 1GB) and some disk space...

WinXP Network Connection Slow to Initialize

The connection in general or connection to shared drives? I've found on VERY fast PCs that connections to shared drives (Windows Networking) can take 30 - 45 seconds to start after the PC is at a clean desktop, which I guess is the result of some optimization of the Windows XP boot process.
