New computer build for Photoshop CS3 usage.

That seems excessive. Also your PSU will need some kind of adapter. i7 stuff uses an 8-pin ATX12V connector that I don't think that Corsair has. And WD is teh suck.

    Quiet and Rackmount?

I moved out of that house years ago. I didn't have a basement. In fact, I had a concrete slab foundation that was crumbling, which is why I moved out. I live in 950ft^2 apartment. It's a two bedroom unit. One bedroom is devoted to my work area, but it was pointed out to me that I could...

    Quiet and Rackmount?

I kind of want to use the closet to store clothes and comic books. It's a walk in closet, but I can't use 3/4 of the space because I need clearance to get behind the rack. I was also thinking I could drop down to using just two enclosures instead of four. I'm looking at a half-height cabinet I...

WD to launch 2TB drives, lose data

One nice thing about the Windows 7 SKUs: Higher versions have all the included features of lower versions. This means that Windows 7 Professional will have the DVD making and media center features found in Home Premium.

    Quiet and Rackmount?

Does anyone know of a rack enclosure that could qualify as quiet? Preferably one with gobs of 3.5" drive bays. I'd like to buy a couple for my apartment that are less noisy than the ones I have, but all the ones I'm looking at seem to use those 60mm 10000rpm fans or else some extra-crappy 80mm...

Can anyone get to MSDN subscriber benefits this morning or is it just me?

They switched things up. I used to get one product key good for 10 installs. Now they give out individual keys that are good for one install each. I think I liked the first system better.

That, or something about "service error." It went away at about 4PM my time. From now on maybe I'll just keep a local copy of the licenses stuff I've claimed already.

Can anyone get to MSDN subscriber benefits this morning or is it just me?

See subject. I'd like to install a Windows 7 trial on another machine but it's not letting me in to grab a key. Tried several machines, several browsers and even more than one internet connection.

WD to launch 2TB drives, lose data

Generally speaking, you receive the 32 bit version of Windows Vista when you purchase an OEM PC. Some OEMs allow users to trade the 32bit version for 64bit, and you can do the same thing if you have a retail copy. In Technet-land, the same product keys are good for both. It appears that Windows...

WD to launch 2TB drives, lose data

No, 2TB is not the maximum size for an NTFS volume under XP. It is the maximum size of a FAT32 drive, and many hardware RAID controllers don't support arrays larger than 2TB, but Windows itself can handle NTFS volumes much larger than that.

You probably just need a newer install CD. SP2+ has drivers for most SATA drives on standard southbridge SATA controllers, unless the drive is in AHCI or RAID mode, in which case you'll have to slipstream an install disc to include the drivers or else load a textmode driver off a floppy.
