    question Bad SSD

IIRC, drives that are considered external go into the safer mode. Even internal drives (if they are on an add-on controller) can have this issue.

What were you worst computer related mistakes made?

...and an oldie but goodie. Back in the day my dad bought a mobo/CPU upgrade for the home computer. 386/33. The cool part was that the motherboard supported both 386 and 486 CPUs, so we could upgrade the CPU some day when the price came down. The downside was that, when putting a 386 CPU in one...

What were you worst computer related mistakes made?

The one that had the largest consequence and was totally my fault was accidentally shutting down a server I was remotely managing. I was in San Francisco, it was in Austin. The Austin office didn't have any employees at that time, so the closest person we could trust to fire it back up was me...

    LED flashlights

I was talking about the C-9000. While I don't doubt that it has more capabilities than other chargers, I don't believe the difference is worth the extra effort most of the time. I do still have the C-9000, but the charger I throw Eneloops into 2-3 times a day is a BC-700. So much easier. I...

problem Desktop pc freezes after I put it to Sleep a 2nd time

It doesn't solve your problem, but I'll second this. While I agree that it likely have some negative effect on the hardware that would be impossible to quantify, my gut instinct is that it is very small. My machines turn off the display and that is it. If I had a drive that wasn't an SSD I'd...

They are, but that is an additional level of knowledge that most users don't have. I've set up many Firefox installs with a few extensions that I thought they'd like (AdBlock, YouTube Downloader, etc). The user has no idea what extensions are.

Any recommendations on the glass? I'm thinking something other than glass, but it will need to stand up to constant UV without hazing or cracking too badly. And I'll need to cut them into circles and drill holes in them. Same with the gasket.

    3D Scanners

The big issue I've run into so far is that this method does not work well on small items or reflective items (the Kinect projects an IR grid and uses that data to collect a depth map). My primary goal for this is automotive, so that may be an issue. My car at the moment is just the right amount...

That shouldn't be an issue. According to this chart, 1/4" "L" thickness pipe would be a near-perfect fit. Maybe close enough to just epoxy in at the right depth. Even 3/8" isn't that expensive, so making each one a foot long would be trivial and should give us plenty of thermal mass and surface...

Awesome. So there are no adjustments in the driver for the wire length? How about number of LEDs? At the these price points we may as well do them all. 4 Drivers with 2, 3, 5, and 15 LEDs. would finish off the landscape lighting entirely.

So shipping the pipe and wire would probably be costly, and it doesn't sound like tuning the system to the wire length would be as big an issue as I was anticipating. Does it sound feasible to have you build the LED units and the driver unit, then have me do assembly here? The XP-G2 has a...

My thought was to solder a brace across the pipe section near one end to mount the LED to. One of the thoughts for making it so long was to add to the heat dissipation capabilities. If that isn't an issue I can get just enough pipe to connect the flange and cap to. I was thinking about...

SolidWorks is so much fun to screw around with. No dimensions given as I drew up the components myself without referencing the real thing, but it should work for the purpose of this discussion. The two dimensions that matter the most would be the pipe diameter and pipe length.
