You're missing an important part in that argument. The JPEG spec does not specify that code should be executable, therefore ignoring executable code is still a legit implementation.

IE5 on 2k is like running around a dark alley with your pants down. Unsustainable is the best word I could think of for it, running a business without the latest updates, patches, and protection is reckless.

The Chinese still have a problem with anything where QC is important, or not using carcinogens is important. I wonder how long it will take them on their accelerated timetable to get over these issues.

Even the shop workers and janitor understand that spending $500 every 5 years is not unreasonable. For the really old hardware, I won't connect it to the internet. I'll stick XP and an old copy of Quickbooks or other on it, but that is it.

Ran into a nasty variant last night. Had to rename the file, run the registry patch, run combofix and malwarebytes from safe mode, then manually delete the folders before reboot.

The 5970 has internal Crossfire, but you can also run a pair of them in crossfire, resulting in 4 GPUs. Useful for resolutions in the 5000x2000 range. A pair would fit on my current board, but I would likely get one of these to go with one of these and a pair of these. Otherwise I can't fit this...

XMarks now supports "open tab sync". I suspect that Merc will find this useful.

My soon-to-be workstation will likely be the Gigabyte in the OP, a PCIe-based SSD, a watercooled 5970 E6, and a power supply. With the PSU and watercooling radiator/pump/reservoir elsewhere, there won't be any noise to hear. The only thing mounted is the Mobo with the parts hanging off it.

In normal computerdom, there are only two thread sizes that matter. 1. Case/PCI/HDD/Mobo 2. Optical/Mobo

There is a very narrow band where TCO can justify SAS architecture these days. Otherwise, SATA (either 7.2k or SSD or...raptor) rules the day. Unless you believe that SAS drives are inherently more reliable? Not in my experience.

Just mount the board on the wall; screw the case. If you have that big an e-peen, you may as well flaunt it. It will make routing all the watercooling for the Fermi cards easier as well (you were planning on folding, no?)

You could always use it in USB mode, but you would have a potential performance hit.

An interesting point. If it synced with the monitor you were looking at at the moment, that could be disconcerting.

I've decided to hold off on buying that many large screens until I can get them 3D capable as well, even if the first GPU I hook them to (5970 E6) can't support it.

I also linked to an eSata bracket above. That is what I plug it into ;-)

I just use the keyboard shortcut win+r to do run ;)
