AV Software that allows port opening?

ESET makes the good program, NOD32, which is a great antivirus app (IMHO, the best) They also make "System Security" or some such that tries to replicate all the crap that Norton and McAffee do; firewall, app scanning, internet nannying, etc.

ATI CCC Advanced Mode on Server 2008 R2 x64

I seem to be running into a different issue. Only the HDMI port works. Ever. Even shutting down, disconnecting all the cables, and reconnecting only one of the DVI monitors yields no video. Leaving it on and plugging in the HDMI instantly brings it up. Tempted to order an active DisplayPort...

ATI CCC Advanced Mode on Server 2008 R2 x64

Interesting bit here. I still can't get my 5870 to detect my other monitors. I have three connected (42" LCD via HDMI (detected), 27" LCD & 24" LCD via DVI (not detected)). The other two screens don't appear at all. I just re-installed the latest drivers and Hydravision, and still no luck.

    New build: Game system

Yeah, if you could squeeze in a 60GB Vertex, that would be a significant move.

    New build: Game system

As far as bank/buck is concerned, that is a great build. Of course, I'd try to sneak in an SSD, but it would be tough to do that and keep a high-capacity disk under budget.

Scratch that. That is with the whole rig mounted on a Nodal Ninja. Much faster without all those additional levers.

Not sure how to measure that, MLU doesn't work when liveview is enabled. The camera takes about 4 seconds to completely stabilize after my hand comes off it. I'm using a wireless remote, so that isn't that big a deal.

    PSTs into Google Apps

This shouldn't be hard, but I can't find an easy way. I have some PST files, and I have username/passwords of the accounts already created in Google Apps. What I don't have is running Outlook installs anywhere. I just want the contents of the PST in Google Apps. Help? Please?

Fully extended it is a little front-heavy, but not bad at all. Right now I have it set up looking significantly down from maximum extension, and each leg has quite a bit of weight on it. Just testing maximum magnification and minimum focus distance.

    Step away from the Rolex

That kind of ties in with a conversation I was having with a friend about "the American dream". My argument was that even though the most traditional wording says something along the lines of "if you work hard, you can get a better, richer, and happier life", I think that most people mentally...

    Step away from the Rolex

An interesting quote you chose, as I picked out the same from the article and almost used it to demonstrate an obvious bias/slant/troll in the article. There is a reason that the words "always" and "never" aren't used in scientific papers, because pretty much nothing is always anything. I also...

    Step away from the Rolex

JTR, I can see your first point, but your second makes me shudder. Who exactly is going to be limiting the expenditures of a company? If the answer is anything but the shareholders, I call foul. If it is a privately held company (like mine), the boss can do whatever he wants. I (with his...

    Step away from the Rolex

Interesting. I knew that ignorance of something better makes you more happy, and that being more happy with your own life encourages you to act more charitably. But this seems to imply something more complex.

No, but I did just download CentOS for some testing...I might start there if it's easier.
  37. ddrueding

    iSCSI SAN

OpenFiler looks cool, but it looks like a bare-metal package? All I want to do is turn some storage space on my Server 2003 machine into an iSCSI target.
  38. ddrueding

    iSCSI SAN

I was going to mount the iSCSI to the ESXi server itself, and backup entire VMs to the store.
  39. ddrueding

    iSCSI SAN

The target will be Server 2003. I'll just allocate a chunk of the RAID array to it and use the same GbE link for both. It will be a backup target for the VMs, they will continue to live local to the ESXi server.
  40. ddrueding

    iSCSI SAN

Funny you should post this right now. At this very moment I have the Microsoft iSCSI initiator open on my main file server, preparing it to host some stuff to my ESXi machines. I have made no progress so far, but it is quite a coincidence.

    Disk Imaging

Thanks Handy, but it doesn't look like either Clonezilla or Partimage support initiating the clone from within Windows. I'm looking for something I can install over RDC, initiate over RDC, and that the machine will come back up (fingers crossed) so I can connect to it afterward.

    Disk Imaging

Just a follow up to see what people are using these days? I'm currently after something that can do a Windows Server-class OS (2003, 2003R2, maybe 2008R2) from within windows (I'll be doing it remotely). Cheap is good, free is better, but works is most important. Also, has anyone here tried...

    Windows 7 nonsense
