Check the BIOS settings? I know in some (OEM at least) motherboards there are some crazy SATA (in)compatibility modes.

I didn't mean in a memory way, I meant in a general usability sort of way. Drivers and application compatibility specifically. Not to derail too much, but do you know how Photoshop plays with larger amounts of RAM? Can it use it? Could performance improve with 8GB of RAM and a 6GB image?

Wifi cameras tend to not work well in groups, they have their own webserver and operate independently. If you want multiple cameras, you might do better with non-IP cameras being captured live at the server. This way you can sync multiple cameras and have better awareness of what is going on...

I'm at 4GB because I use 32-bit Windows. 64-bit Windows is a special kind of hell; Vista is much better than XP, but it's still a minefield.

I noticed with my Samsung 191Ts that the image quality seemed much lower in Portrait. The "screen door effect" was worse, and view angle was much worse.

The OS can address more than 4GB of memory if page files are factored in. Physical RAM is limited to <4GB.

Let me know how it turns out. I'm thinking of using those in portrait mode as secondary screens, as their long dimension (20.4") is the same as the short dimension on my main screen.

She's the highly competitive sort. If she looks at a game and determines that I would be inherently better, she'd rather not play. Unfortunately, this ruled out poker last week as well. I'll consider it a project for the relationship at some future date.

It does vary constantly, and since I'm using it as a monitor, I'm so close that I affect it as well. When I had the OSD showing that it was changing all the time it drove me crazy. Fortunately, I disabled the notification and it has fine enough settings that I don't notice all the changes.

Some people consider me too smug, or overconfident, or braggish, or that I talk too much. Guilty on all counts, really. It just seems to rub some people the wrong way.

If the image the lens projected was still full-frame, and the sensor only picked up a crop of it, I could understand that reasoning. But I was under the impression that the sensor's distance from the lens was adjusted to still catch the entire projected image.

There are windows opposite the monitor (~20ft away) and their is track lighting directly above. Depending on their combinations, there is a significant range of useful settings.

I like my Sharp Aquos because it has an ambient light sensor and adjusts automatically ;) With my Viewsonic LCD, I'm always tweaking the brightness.
