    SmoothWall and eMule Q

Yes, you need to open the ports marked as "incoming" and forward them to the machine you are running eMule on. After logging onto the web admin interface of the smoothwall, go to the "networking" tab. The first sub-tab will be "port forwarding". Leave the external IP blank, add the source port...

Looking into getting involved here...I do have a fair number of machines. But I need assurances that the client is completely stable and won't negatively impact the active application. I have 20 of Athlon64 3000+ machines that run 24/7 off a T-1. Would this be a significant contribution?

Ever wanted to know the thoughts of car fans?

When I was still in High School, I tried my hand at restoring a 1966 Austin Healey Sprite Midget. I wasn't very good at the tuning work (the 1996CC inline-4 had twin carbs), and I was terrible at repairing the interior, but I rebuilt the entire wiring harness from scratch and had great fun with it.

Ever wanted to know the thoughts of car fans?

I think designing and building a car from the ground up would be a great experience. Not only can you get the lines, balance and dimnenstions exactly how you want them; but you can lose some of the crap stuck in modern cars.

    Gaming off the LAN? Feasibile?

Not necissarily Howell. The plan that Valve is offering is basically a bulk rate on the retail product. This is the one I had the highest hopes for, considering how difficult Steam is to manage in the gamecenter. But their "easy how to" is the exact same thing that I'm doing now. One of the...

    Gaming off the LAN? Feasibile?

No, I mean if they thought these things through, instead of just being a PITA. They've already come up with a great strategy, preventing multiple people from playing on the LAN/Internet with a key that's already in use. This is really hard to bypass and easy to implement. But then taking steps...

Er, em, yes....I guess I need to stop dismissing things without actually looking into them  Sorry about that. Yes, I'm learning quite a bit here. Though I am still quite serious about the whole thing, it is fascinating even at a theoretical level.

    Gaming off the LAN? Feasibile?

    Gaming off the LAN? Feasibile?

If the game writers wern't asses, making their keys incredibly difficult to change, than this would be the easy solution. However, many of the games make it so difficult that re-installing the game is the easiest way to change the key.
