It's a shame that the Samsung drives reviewed are "old generation" models. Well, in the end the reviewer promises to "examine modern products from the surviving manufacturers"...
After the P120 series came T133, then T166, S166, and the current new-generation drives are either S250 or F334 series. I think there is a T133 series 250 GB drive, though that wasn't sold very widely thanks to the P120 model, which had the same capacity. Most vendors here sold just the 300 & 400 GB versions of the T133-series.
I hope that the upcoming review would include a single platter
HD250HJ (S250, 8 MiB) or
HD251HJ/
HD252HJ (F334, 8/16 MiB). Our distributors have at least the S250 250 GB models in stock, the only F-series (or some call them F1-series) drives seen are the 750 GB and the 1 TB drives (though the 1 TB model is still listed as "coming"). Most likely the smaller F-series models (<500 GB) will not be sold very widely because the existing T133/T166 lineup covers those capacities.
Cheers,
Jan
PS. Paugie, the drive you have belongs to the
S166 series.
