Jason Stratham, Clive Owen, and Robert DeNiro: Killer Elite.

Excellent plot. Even Hollywood couldn't screw this true story up.
SAS in the Oman war, and what they did.

Based on a book that can be neither confirmed or denied. In other words, the guy was there, wrote a book, and the SAS are still covered by British secrets law.

EXCELLENT movie.

Pelican Brief: Bluray version. Extended, added scenes, incredible clarity. Julie Roberts never looked so good. I always liked this movie. It's now WAY better. Worth a look.

I cried most of the movie. GREAT movie, even for kids.

Finally got around to watching Avatar... Great visuals and audio, but what really let this movie down for me was the story that been done a hundred times over, and at times the wooden acting. (For the rare moments when there was actual live shots). I can see why Hurt Locker got the award and not Avatar at the Oscars.

It's been pointed out to me that the universe described in Blade Runner and the one used in the Alien films is compatible, and there are a few details between the two that support that idea.

Yep, this seems to be more of the same though not continuing or preceding the story line in any of them.

Saw John Carter with the kids. It held my attention for the 2:12 runtime, and held my kids attention, despite being 30~40 minutes longer that what they are used to. It's a better movie than a lot of the reviews I've read. But it's still not great. I'm disappointed that Disney murdered the potential franchise, and I can only think that it was done deliberately due to internecine warefare. Surely they just couldn't be stupid or incompetent with 250 Mill?

It's not true to the book(s). But it's not a bad story. The US period pieces seemed a little disjointed. I also think the casting of Taylor Kitsch was a mistake. He wasn't bad, but he seemed to lack a little charisma that the character needed. Lynn Collins on the other hand stole the show. If you've been put off by the reviews, it's worth the entry fee.

I still think it should have been called A Princess of Mars.

Hunger games? I read the books and I didn't think they held up to ender but still were an interesting read and might make a decent movie. Certainly not going to a theater for it though.

I know absolutely nothing at all about it, but both of my daughters who saw it thought it was good; the one who is more into art and culture had low expectations but found it riveting. She's a pretty good judge, I'm prepared to recommend it to thinking humans on the strength of that alone.

As with any movie from book situation I would assume the books are much more interesting than the movie and I personally prefer reading the books first. I certainly enjoyed game of thrones but I couldn't help but think that the first episode of the tv series screamed through about the first third of the book.

Hunger Games was good as a movie, but the books are written from a first-person present perspective, so the movie is missing a lot of the interior monologue of the main character; the movie depicts the possibility of a budding romance where the book focuses strictly on a pragmatic survivor. I also think the movie was a little bit too abstract in showing children murdering children. I know that has to do with its rating and intended audience, but that's a really brutal idea that kind of got downplayed.

John Carter was quite good. I read a couple of those books when I was a teenager. I don't remember them all that well, but I think they basically mashed the whole series into one movie. I understand why they did that, but I think they could have pared more out to make something more coherent or else spread things out over two films. In any case, it was the spectacle that the source material demanded (other than Deja Thoris wearing too many clothes) and I think the production in general was right on the money. It really sucks that it failed as a feature film, but I really think the blame rests squarely on the name of the movie and on the marketing. Supposedly, Disney didn't want to call it "John Carter of Mars" because "Mars" is something that appeals to men and not women, and didn't want to call it "A Princess of Mars" because "Princess" appeals to women and not men. The compromise name just appealed to no one.

Well, Disney lost $200 million on that cluster****, so I doubt there will be sequel in any event.

My son-in-law started watching "6 Feet Under" only because of the actor who plays "Dexter". I had a look at the pilot and was hooked. The people are so real, one could relate to everyone in turn. The finale (season 5) was very enjoyable. After 5 years of hurt, it was an episode of grace, of things turning out well despite not deserving the outcomes.
Game of Thrones was awesome. Am reading the 2nd book of the 5. Thoroughly enjoying them.
Have read the Hunger Games trilogy but have not gone off to watch the movie for fear of being disappointed. I am a fan of Stanley Tucci so I'll probably watch it for his sake.

Immortals was ok. I'm not sure what Theseus had to do with any of this. Made little sense to me.
Hyperion was a Titan, not a king.

How two Greek writers could so screw up Greek mythology is somewhat beyond me.
It has a distinct Indian influence. "The director Tarsem Singh Dhandwar and Freida Pinto as the oracle Phaedra. A really beautiful stunning woman.

If you are taking a Greek Mythology class don't see this movie. Ok otherwise.

The thing about Six Feet Under is that by the middle of the second season I hated all of the characters so much I actually wanted awful things to happen to them. Once I realized that I quit watching.

Game of Thrones starts again on Sunday, by the way. Which Coug would love. Except for one scene in episode 8.

Yup, that could have happened to me too. Then again, sometimes life is really like that.

But there is the problem. Life itself is like that. There are enough things that I experience in life that I don't like. I have no need for instant-replays of the un-fun bits. This is why I avoid most (all?) fictional programming.

So sometimes you'd like to do like those people who ravage crowds with a machine gun? Me? I'm not like that. I'd do it with an axe and/or a machete. Much more fun since you can feel the guts tearing out.

I only thought Hunger Games was ok. Because I did not read the books I thought the story was a little hollow. The plot was fine but some things were not sufficiently explained. Because it was a book I know they just couldn't fit everything in. Still annoying.

A film should stand alone. I prefer original screenplays, but there are fine adaptations once in a while. That does not sound like one.

I do not want to talk about Audis or home lighting systems. I want to talk about what really matters. Which is pornography. And how awesome it is. Also super heroes. And how awesome they are.

Case in point: Vivid Video's Avengers XXX: A Porn Parody. Note the use of a CG flying Iron Man and the inclusion of minor characters like Ms. Marvel and Agent Sharon Carter. Also the fact that the chick they got to play She-Hulk (yes, there's really a She-Hulk. She's been around for at least 32 years and her comics ran for a total of more than 150 issues; in fact I'm a huge fan of the character) used to be a wrestler or something.

The link goes to Youtube and is safe for work.

I'm sorry, but I'm old-school: The Avengers has Mr. Steed and Mrs. Peel and absolutely nothing to do with comic books.

I suppose porn has a place in this world but then I'm old-school and a romantic. I want some emotions with my sex...

It was Gale before Peel for me. The episodes with Honor Blackman were better written. She looked like she was serious business, albeit in those awesome kinky boots. Riggs had a fresh look that was popular with the males I suppose, and the color episodes may have been better for reruns. Some of the later Steed/Peed shows were just plain silly.

Odd. I remember both but thought the comics predated (1963) the TV show (1961 to about 70).

I was wrong. I'm going to have to see if I can find the 62-64 episodes with Honor Blackman. I always liked her acting;-)

Stripper tonight. Avengers tomorrow. And probably also stripper again. I suspect it will be a memorable day or so.
