Another hardcore build. Wishing for newer hex-core CPUs.

The user plans to run 3 30" 2560x1440 monitors. What video card would you recommend? Here is the rest of the system:

Intel Core i7-980 3.33GHz LGA 1366 130W
GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R ATX Intel
CORSAIR Vengeance 24GB (6 x 4GB)
OCZ RevoDrive 3 series RVD3-FHPX4-480G
2x HITACHI Deskstar 3TB 3.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s (RAID-1)
LITE-ON Black 12X Blu-ray Burner with Blu-ray 3D feature SATA

Case selection depends on the space in the desk, I'll be getting dimensions soon.

I'm still amazed that an "uber" build can be had for under $4k, not that the customer will be paying less than $5k...;)

Unless if I'm missing something, Amazon has the 3TB drive for less money than newegg and will likely offer you a better return policy for a DOA.

Hitachi Deskstar 3.5 inch 3TB 7200RPM SATA III 6Gbps 64MB Cache Internal Hard Drive $154.95

Hitachi 3 TB DESKSTAR 7200 RPM IDK H3IK30003272SW 6.0 Gb-s Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Retail Kit Drives $179.99

I've used the FirePro 2460 for stock market consultants. It's ok, but you cannot ply more than two 1080p movies at the same time (with an i7 2600 CPU). Trying to play 1080p movie on all four (or even three) resulted in choppy playback. I was hoping the twice-as-expensive NVS 450 would fare better. Purely for programming, the FirePro 2460 will be ok.

I use Newegg to get the gear picked out; they have a fairly comprehensive selection, and their search tools are fantastic. Once I have the parts list, I look elsewhere.

For the video card I'll probably go with the NVS, as Aero and whatever 8 has will likely use a bit of GPU power.

I am omnipresent
I've now tried a Xeon E1220 on two P67 and one Z68-series motherboard (one Asus, two Gigabyte). They all had updated BIOSes and they all work with an i7-2600k. None of them will boot with the Xeon.

Boo.

Thanks for the information. That's very good to know and it will save me from making a costly mistake. I already have two pricey X58 motherboards around, waiting for their better half to join them. I don't need any more.
