thanks Steve,

also congrats to Cliption again, for blasting past the 8000 point score mark. won't be long before he hits the 10,000 mark.

with a few positions being shuffled directly beneeath Cliptin, I see he's upped his output agian. there' s nothing like a bit of competiton!

I forgot the password/e-mail combo I used back when I created the team. I tried several, but none worked. I guess we won't see our new logo for a while :(

Would it be possible for you Doug to place a copy of our logo in a directory matching the place where Standford's website is looking for it?

wooosh! :p

there's a little bit of rejuvenated competition going on at the top end, hopefully we can stimulate some in the rest.

congrats to JMP for making it into the top ten just recently!

Remember those PCs I built for my classroom? XP2100s?
There are 12 of them right now.

The ghost image that on 'em includes FAH3Console, which is installed as an automatic service when the machines are in WinXP.

I imagine that'll add up over time.

Or more to the point, turning in results. :twistd:

The new lab is supposed to go live before the new year. After that, the mandate is for most of the teaching to take place in XP. My classes are different, unfortunately, and I'm the person who uses that particular lab the most. I'd guess that if the PCs can get turned on in XP and used two days a week, they'll each be able to finish a work unit. It's better than nothing.

While I'm waiting for the cheque for the Tualatin to come through, I put it in my E-PC which surprisingly supports it in place of the P3-733. I'll leave it there crunching till I send it off on Monday.

Have people noticed that we are losing ground. The last time I looked we were ranked 27th for weekly production. I looked today and found we are now ranked 39th. Since we are ranked at 33rd for total production and 39th on weekly production, expect our total production ranking to get worse over time.

Well, I know my production has fallen. About half of the WU's I do now get killed by this:
Code:
[18:38:36] Received faulty work unit.
[18:38:46] logfile size: 10240
[18:38:46] - Writing 10752 bytes of core data to disk.
[18:38:46] end (WriteWorkResults)
[18:38:46]
[18:38:46] Folding@Home2 Core Shutdown: BAD_WORK_UNIT
[18:38:49] CoreStatus = 72 (114)
[18:38:49] Sending work to server

It usually waits until the WU is at least 3/4 finished and then pops up, destroys the WU, and has the client download a new WU.

I can't figure out why this happening. At first I thought it was because of overclocking, but even with my clock speeds lowered quite a bit it keeps dogging me. CPU temperatures are OK as well. Neither client v3.14 or v3.24 are immune, either.

haha not really. Might as well get yourself a second machine rather than pay for those electric bills :)

blakerwry,
How come you used two different user names for your systems? You can have an unlimited number of PCs under one name.

My stas should stop slacking off in points soon.

I sold my Athlon1200 and Duron950 systems in the For Sale forums. They were relaced with systems based on the CPUs from the dually set-up I had. In my dually rig, the 1700+'s were overclocked to 1900+ (1600mhz)/146mhz FSB. They are both now in the K7S5A's downstairs and are happily chugging along at 2000+(1666mhz)/150mhz FSB.

Upstairs I have the new nForce2 board that I'm working the kinks out of right now. Currently, it is only running at 2400+/166 FSB.

Bottom line is that I should be equal to what I was producing before with respect to work units.

You mean running a 2400+ at 166FSB with the L3 RH bridge closed for (12.5 X 166) ?

Or did the new C10 bios allow for full multiplier unlocking?

The C10 BIOS totally unlocks it so I'm running 166x12 right now. I never even tried the original BIOS so I don't know the difference....

Great. How is it doing for temperature at that speed and what are you using for a HSF?

I haven't checked temps yet but it is running at stock speed (~2Ghz) so I would not expect temps to be a problem. I'm going to try the MB Probe software you mentioned tonight.

The cooler I'm using is VERY quiet and does a nice job. I was using two of them on my TigerMPX before. It is the OCZ Goliath SE with 80mm fan that sucks air through the sink. Only $27 at Newegg. Here is a nice video review you can check out to get an idea of how quiet it is:

I don't think we'll drop in the overall ranking that much. Our strong point is the consistency at which we produce. Remember how quickly teams Hotmail and University of Alabama past us? Well guess what, we are now over-producing them both and we've already past team Hotmail.

Many of the teams that currently out-produce us are probably like fireworks. They'll slow down quickly IMO. However, our chances to climb the ranking are pretty low too. Among the 31 teams in front of us, only 5 have a lower weekly output. :(

On a more personal note, I delivered the Athlon XP 2100+ box I had working here for the last week so my production will probably return to something compable to the one of Handruin and Clocker (or slightly lower).

Crunch on blakerwry! I just added a 1.3gig duron to my crunching effort.

I'm still a long way from that 500/week score :(

(Yes, I know the top two is crunching at almost 1000point/week sometimes. Good work!!!!!)

As to all the rest of us, get to work! ;)

help getting FAH wroking on UNIX's

hey there folks,

I have a few multi CPU Solaris, Tru64, HP-UX and AIX boxes at my disposal and I want to have a go at folding on them. the Linux client doesn't run on these (as expected). I've had a search on the net for pre-compiled clients for these systems but came up with nothing. I'm a big dunce when it comes to using these O/S'es so I can't do it for myself. can anyone here assit me my efforts to get this happening?
