From Ars: Firefox blacklists Flash player due to unpatched 0-day vulnerabilities

Ars Technica said:
Meanwhile, over at Facebook, the company's new chief security officer called for Adobe to "announce an end-of-life date for Flash," so that we can finally "disentangle the dependencies and upgrade the whole ecosystem."

And if two Web giants weren't enough, Google recently announced that the next stable version of Chrome would "intelligently" block auto-playing Flash elements.

Likewise, at work, new security policy was approved/pushed yesterday effectively banning the installation of flash from all machines. All Flash installations will be removed over the next 48 hours...

The most flash I personally see today are ad related... don't care that I miss some ads! ;)

Porn sites are EXTREMELY forward looking and tend to have good techs working for them. There's a strong impetus for moving porn to HTML5 anyway since it's marginally harder to block HTML5-based ads.
Unfortunately, HTML5 is still a bit of a mess since AFAIK no two major browsers will handle all content correctly every time.

Flash does need to die. Killing it will cause an apocalypse for advertising networks but I think that will be a good thing as well. Considering how much effort I have made as an administrator to ensure that my clients constantly have updated flash now and in the future, I'll be glad to be rid of it.

Ironically, I suspect it'll be rather like Java, where most people will be able to forget it was ever a thing but IT people, students and gamers will still need it.

Agree with this 100%

Once the pRon sites figure out how they are going to replace Flash, AND they can make more money doing so, because they ain't doing anything unless it increases their revenue, then Flash will die.

Of course IE, Firefox, Chrome, etc, etc, will have to issue an update the actually REMOVES Flash from computers as millions of people will have waaaaaaaaaaay outdated versions of Flash still on their systems even after Flash dies.
