HGST drives perform typically well in RAID arrays. I don't see why this model should be any differrent.

I would like to setup a 12-drive 2U server with those. Even using RAID 10, we're talking about 36TB of useable storage.

Sure, but that's a little too pricey fro me. I suppose the cost is about 1.5x the Ultra stain.
