If you'll look up about a half dozen posts, you'll see I already linked to that...

I think I am just going to start paying the pirates, since they're the only ones who can bother to release a product I'd even be willing to install on my computer.

I spoke too soon on that AVG and Bioshock thing. This morning it deleted my Bioshock.exe with a Obfustat.JXR detected. It allowed me to restore the file and then immediately detected it again, which I was allowed to ignore. Wonder if that will happen every time.

Play This Thing has tons and tons of links to cool games of all sorts. Flash games, Freeware, Demos and even tabletop stuff. I found four or five neat titles in about about three minutes of looking at the site.

The Unreal Tournament 3 Demo was released today. I fully expect it to bring my PC to its knees sometime in the next 40 minutes.

UT3 Demo: Very very pretty. Runs very well on my gaming PC. Level load times seem long, and the menu system is all console-y and crappy.
The gameplay is just exactly as fun as the previous two games in the series. I've only done Deathmatches against bots so far, but they are a blast.

I suspect its with the graphics jacked up all the way and running at 1920x1200. I'm running at 1600x1200, and it's playable (see sig).

I give no damn about gaming (as opposed to giving a damn).

But, someone I know sent me a link to this, and I thought it to be both ridiculous and hilarious. :rotfl:

30 YEARS OF 1700+ VINTAGE-PRESENT VIDEO GAME LOT
Atari Coleco Nintendo Sega Sony MS - BIN SHIPS FREE!

Winning bid: US$9,000.00 (starting price: US$0.99)

After decades of painstakingly collecting video games and consoles, I've finally decided to part with my entire collection. From Atari to PlayStation 2, there's something for everybody in this collection. Even the unbelievably rare games are included. You may have played NiGHTS on the Sega Saturn, but did you know that they made an extremely rare Christmas version? You'll find that in this collection, along with a rare NiGHTS analog controller. Many people are familiar with the Nintendo DS, but did you know that the Neo Geo Pocket was a handheld game system that was released half a decade earlier? You'll find the Neo Geo Pocket Color in this collection too. Sure, you've probably played DVD-based games such as Scene-It, but the Nuon system preceded it by over 7 years and only released 8 games. This collection has 7 of the 8, including Iron Soldier 3, a game which was later recalled. Place your bid now to own your share of video game history.

The following systems are represented in this auction: Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari Jaguar, Atari Lynx, Coleco ColecoVision, Coleco Gemini, Coleco Telstar, Commodore 64/128, GCE Vectrex, Mattel Aquarius, Mattel Intellivision, Mattel Odyssey 2, Microsoft Xbox, Microsoft Xbox 360, APF TV Fun, Miscellaneous Handheld Games, Miscellaneous PC Games, SC Eight Thousand, Sega Pods, Miscellaneous TV Games, NEC Turbo Duo, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Game Boy Advance, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo NES, Nintendo Nintendo 64, Nintendo Super NES, Nintendo Virtual Boy, Nintendo Wii, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Game Gear, Sega Genesis, Sega Master System, Sega Saturn, SNK Neo Geo, SNK Neo Geo Pocket, Sony Playstation, Sony Playstation 2, Texas Instruments TI 99/4A, VM Labs Nuon.

There are 1,768 items with an estimated value of $14,639.00. Rarity has been checked based on online rarity guides, including the DigitPress rarity guides. Rare (R), Extremely Rare (ER), and Unbelievably Rare (UR) display as colored rows in the table below. The estimated values are based on the rarity guides as well as recent eBay Completed Listings. The Reserve and Buy It Now are set well below the estimated value. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to build your video game collection... or maybe it's time to rebuild your collection... either way, there are some great items in this collection. Store purchasers are also welcome.

Shipping will be done through UPS Ground to the continental United States ONLY and will include insurance on the entire amount. I've entered a maximum amount for the shipping based on a NY-CA shipment. If you are bidding we will figure out the cost based on your zip code (since there are 40+ boxes and eBay doesn't really support this size lot) and you will ONLY PAY THE SHIPPING THAT UPS SAYS YOU SHOULD by entering a shipping discount during checkout. Some sample shipment rates: California $1533, Kansas $1273, Florida $992, New York $789. Local pickup can also be arranged if you are nearby (New York tri-state area) but please be aware that you will need a truck - there are 40+ boxes that weigh around 1000 pounds together and take up about a pallet and a half. BUY IT NOW for FREE SHIPPING! If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me!

There are so many items here that, even though they have been cleaned and tested, I am still selling this lot AS-IS.

Too many to list using eBay's limitations - follow this link to view the entire listing! There are many more pictures at this link as well!

You can with the latest update for the wii console (so you might have to connect online and update first). I haven't actually tried it but it is listed as one of the enhancements in the update.

Just finished Call of Duty 4. Good game with a solid storyline and decent variety for a FPS. Quite short, but enjoyable. I also thought it was more convincing graphically than Crysis while using one and a half cores.

Crysis was fairly lacking in variety, and all the major turning points in the plot were cut scenes. It also only used one core, making my Q6600 feel unappreciated.

Company of Heroes is fun for a while, but very repetitive. It can consume 2 cores, but I don't know why; it isn't that pretty or complex.

Dirt is nice and can chew on 2 cores, but my favorite game is still Test Drive Unlimited. The physics model is fantastic, especially once you turn off traction control in Hardcore mode.

My wife & I have been looking to get a Wii. Refusing to go to ebay, I've been monitoring ads and whatnot for several weeks but had no luck. I went to Deep Discount's local store last night to look for a DVD and they had Wiis in stock. Funny how actively searching yields nothing but random shopping hits paydirt.

I'm really enjoying "Assassin's Creed" despite it's obvious console heritage. It is the spiritual successor to the "Thief" series, IMHO.

I was into DAOC for a long time mainly because a bunch of friends were playing it. But we are all looking into the Warhammer preorder.

Anyone else planning on doing Warhammer?

My brother was really in to DAOC for a while and I considered joining him, but I was busy finishing up school. I have to admit it looked pretty awesome. Warhammer online looks even better.

If I was going to get into a MMORPG, Warhammer would probably be the one considering Mythic's fantastic pedigree with DAOC. Unfortunately, I've been completely swamped with work the last 2 years. It should get better early next year, but I have a feeling MMORPGs are something I should stay away from until that's a certainty...

Spore was supposed to be one of the bestest games of all time.

Several gamers I know have told me how completely disappointing it is. Basically, if you take the most retarded parts of a bunch of games you actually like, you end up with Spore.

I'm installing Spore now...I'll let you know what I think in a little while if it's any good.

Spore

I've been reading some of the reviews, and despite all the DRM issues with the title (which EA could fix in a heart-beat), IMHO it seems like a really boring and tedious game for little result.

Most sites I've read reviews on are giving 1 star (out of 5 or 10)... I don't think I'm going to miss this one.

Warhammer open beta was pretty neat, game seems "almost" mature enough for release. I am going to finding my way around for a LONG time, the world is HUGE, about 10x the territory in DAOC classic if I had to say. Even the beta with only tier 1 access seemed pretty large, I know I only got to about a quarter of that territory. Interface is up to date and functions like it is polished quite nicely. Some friends kept saying this and that is like wow but this here is much better, mythic obviously recycling some and improving some as they go along. Something I like is there is a bit of the scifi side to go with the magic stuff because you have guns and engineers and devices. That attracts my attention more than just type fifteen magic pink blast xxxx.

Only issue I had was alt tab to desktop doesn't grantee you can get back into the game.

Looks like it is worth the money. Mostly only plan to play when friends are on like I did with DAOC.

I agree, they certainly have some interesting ideas. Some of the class mechanics have potential.
A couple things that bother me are tabbing for targeting isn't reliable at all.
There's no way to tell if your group mates are close enough to heal or not.
I haven't found a way to tell what class someone is without inspecting them if they're not in your group.

Spores lack of an autosave feature, combined with its tendency to crash, and its inability to allow a manual save most of the time has led me to swear off the game before finishing it once. Lame.
