That is too late. I'll buy a few of the 500GB Samsung drives now and then perhaps one of the 7.2K drives for the notebook later on. A 7.2K RPM drive is not desirable in a PSD anyway. I'd rather ghave 600GB @ 5400 RPM.

Yeah, well you can buy everything on demand. At my age, I have to consider a purchase for a day or two and sometimes discuss it.

Damn, that is a lot of drives for one day. I don't have the space for too many drives, so I prefer the more capacious ones. Besides, enough power is consumed and noise produced by only one computer running 6 drives continuously. When I power up the other 3 internal drives and 4-bay external enclosure, the room becomes even warmer. And that does not include a second computer not curently in use.

Well, the rig I have now is starting to fill up. Total drive count for the single machine is: 12x 750GB, 2x 74GB, 3x 16GB. My RAID controller is only a 16-port, but the motherboard has another 6 SATA and 1 PATA if I need it.

I might need to upgrade from a 700W PS soon....we'll see.

What's wrong with a 5.4k Hitachi 500GB, other than 3yr warranty...you can buy it now, and it's probably slightly faster than the Seagate drive?

As before LM, look to macsales.com as a retailer who usually gets new drives fairly shortly after they begin to ship.
