Seagate is offering the Momentus 7200.1 100GB PATA drive (model ST910021A) for $97.50, and the Barracuda 7200.9 500GB SATA drive (model ST3500641AS) for $162.50 (limit one each) to Seagate Partner Program members.

It costs nothing to sign up, and I know a number of folks here might actually use this for evaluation purposes *before* filling it with porn.

Realilse that, to be a business, you only need you. If you're a consultant, working under your own name, you may not even need a license.

It is supposed to be just below the "Design Service Centers Promotion". I don't know why it isn't in your version of that page. In your company's profile, you probably omitted to tell them that you were interested in personal storage solutions so they don't offer that promotion to you.

Unless the IRS has assigned your company a Tax ID, it would be your personal SSN as a sole propertership.

Just wanted to let you guys know that even though the Seagate website said they were OOS on the Eval hard drives, mine shipped the day after my order.

That 7200.1 really made a nice noticeable difference on my P3 500/512MB WinXP Pro laptop when upgrading from the 4200RPM 40GB Toshiba I had in it. They are both rated for the same power usage as well (2.6W).

I have the distinct feeling that you had to answer their profile questions "correctly" to qualify to see the evaluation page. I suggest that you reapply, answering their questions differently, to artifically boost,Seagates interpretation that you have a need to evaluate units...

Holy sh%# batman! I believe I'll drive over to a nearby Fry'z in the morning and buy one for $159 (+8.25% local sales tax). There was a veritable mountain of 750 GB Baccarudas in the middle of the floor at the Fry's store I'm talking about back in August.

That price for the 750GB drive was for the www.frys.com. I have no idea if it is applicable to their retail stores. www.frys.com is now listing the offer as "Unavailable" while, if you search their site, they still have 750GB drives still in-stock at $399. So I wouldn't bet the farm that they exist locally. To me it looks like a pricing error that they caught...
