Actually I think I paid $209 for mine but I just got them from Newegg. Pretty sure it was in one of their daily emails a couple weeks ago. I've seen them for $199 in sales flyers from Best Buy so it's at least possible to get them that cheap.

I wouldn't mind doing this also. The best I've seen so far from a place I'd trust is on Amazon for $229 or B&H, also for $229. Is that the same drive you used? Newegg wants $349?! I read that the drive is 7200RPMs, is that correct?

That's the same drive. I have no idea how fast it spins since it's not relevant to my needs, but ddrueding has one he might be able to check.

Not only would he not know, but I didn't install any software on the machine that would tell him. And he's too far away to make a visit for this.

AFAIK, the actual internal drives are Barracuda XT drives...
