In hope the Segate 1TB drives available next year are better than the horrific 750GB SATA ones. I still don't understand why are so different from the similar PATA drives.

I have a few 750s and am quite happy with them. What's the issue?

The two 750GB ATA drives I have are relatively cool and quiet, whereas the SATA one was hot and noisy. It's like they are different drives. Unfortunately ATA ports are disappearing so I'm reluctant to buy any more than the 7TB+ of ATA drives.
