Anal-ysis this:

So I woke up @3am to take a pee, still slightly under influence of the bottle of sparking rose I drank 6hrs prior. Went back to sleep and had this seriously weird dream.

Dreams are the window to the subconscious mind, the soul??? I sure hope not!!!

I woke up an hour later, while having this dream, this time not to pee, not even a woody…wft is going on with this dream here???

All I remember before I woke up…all kind of hazy like dreams usually are.

I pull up behind an old 50’s or early 60’s car stopped in the right lane (American roads, driving on the right side, apparently) woman standing stranded by her car. Yeah, one of those people trying to drive a ‘hip’ ‘cool’ ‘funky’ old classic I suppose. I can’t remember if I come up on her by walking or if I’m driving me car…that part is too detailed for this foggy dreamscape :D

I walk up to her and offer assistance in pushing her car off the road, most likely into a parking lot, maybe a Trader Joe’s parking lot, lol…cause I shop there quite often :p.

So she’s wearing a tight stretch knit black dress that goes down to her knees, all very classic and simple, conservative almost :p. She’s thanking me for helping push her car off the main road of traffic and asks me: “haven’t I seen you before, you look familiar?”

And I reply: “you look familiar too, but I can’t recall where I’ve seen you before?” “Do you live around here?

She says: “I live over in the Valley” (San Fernando Valley, 15+miles away, not clost), but I did go to Hollywood High.

I tell her: “well I didn’t go to high school @Hollywood”.

She smiles just a smidgen before asking/interrupting my sentence “Would you like to go out with me sometime?”

…as I finish my sentence(s): …”but I’m sure I’ve seen you before somewhere?”

I don’t answer her question, somewhat surprised, and continue:

“I must have met you before, I just can’t recall where or when, I’m sure I’ve seen you before”

She gets annoyed by lack of reply to hers and says:

“Well it’s up to you…”

At that point I wake up!

Hmm, the stress of it all. I should point out that this woman in black, looked a whole lot like actress Anne Hathaway with her big round brown eyes, a dead ringer for her (except maybe not as wide a huge mouth…or maybe I just wasn’t paying enough attention to that???…maybe my dream *was* about her. Which is strange because I don’t find her particularly appealing, and have not even seen a picture of her in many months, haven't thought of her for even a second in that time…looks or personality wise…guess why I hesitated in giving her and answer to the come on.

Oh sure, she had a nice figure, nice enough looking face…certainly better than me on both accounts, but just no real interest on my part. I should point out that between these two pasty white chicks in the linked pic below, Hathaway looks entirely like a regal beauty compared to the kind of fatty looking, skank-o-la Johansson

http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1675336448/nm0004266

And if head-fi.org guy thinks Johansson is that much better than ugly Betty…man, he’s got bad taste…this difference is insignificant, IMO.

While I don’t entirely agree with Ms Alba in this vid ‘ah, she’s beautiful, stunningly beautiful’, Hyori is one of the prettier Koreans, but I’ve seen hotties in LA that were even better. Holy **** Alba was super skinny back then, makes even thin Hyori look a tiny bit thicker. Hate Hyori’s dyed brown/yucky-mucky hair that far too many Asians go for these days, though. Black is beautiful!

^should point out that gum chewing JA was around 21 at that time (they’re showing a dance scene from one of her 1st movies ‘Honey ‘, post-Dark Angel; Hyori a few years older when this was shot in Vancouver, BC. While I can get some Korean MBC programming on the local OTA Asian channel (also streaming on the net for broadband connections :p ), I don’t get to see any of the TV ads for the Korean home market, just local LA based Korean language ads L

Other wise I’d get so see all of Hyori’s yummy TV ads, like her arse up in the air for the bed commercial, or her trademark mid-rift in the Samsung anycall ad.

Where are the damned hot looking Asian babes in my dreams, damn it…this is just Sooo wrong! What does this lame arse dream that made me wake up for no reason at all signify???

:tgif:It’s enough to make me swear off alcohol. Just a few hours into the new year and I’m already fook’d!

I drank a whole botlte of that by myself. :drinka: First time ever and probably the last.
Alcohol is strange. :santa:

I used to drink a whole lot. Last night was the first in about 3 months, with a bottle bubbly each. Had one at the house, then drove up to enjoy the view of the city below from a healthy distance and killed off another. This is the least hangover I've ever had from champagne.

What do you all do for affordable picture framing? I have 9 pictures on 12x18 media that I want to frame up and hang. I was looking at framesbymail.com and while they have a really nice offering I don't quite want to spend $350 on it.

I just spent the better part of a week upgrading my storage systems and the media sorting and indexing software associated with it.

End result: four 12TB RAID6 arrays and two 6TB RAID5s. As I add music, the .id3 tags are broken down and multiple sets of symlinks are created so that I can drill through my filesystem by composer, conductor, performer or record label to get to the music I want. I can also auto-transcode .aac, .ape and some other silly formats into .flac and break apart things that have .cue files into individual tracks.

I was trying to work out image sorting, but most porn pictures don't include any metadata to work from, so I still have to help that along by naming at least the directory I download to. Bleh.

Four machines using Centos, two (essentially identical) Server 2008R2 machines.

The Server2008 machines are my living room gaming system and my bedroom gaming system, and they're set up the way they are so I can play with Libraries, Indexing, Homegroups and Dfs.

I'm using a mix of onboard ports, Perc5s and 3ware cards to get the port density I need. Linux supports hot spares in software, so every system has two of them ready to go.

The whole mess is redundant, so there's two copies of everything. I use rsync to keep the Linux systems in line, and Dfs for the Windows machines.

I'm using about 26TB of actual space (2x13TB, really), but I have some stuff I can pull off of LTO tapes if I can borrow a drive from one of my customers. I still haven't decided if a tape changer is a worthwhile expense or not.

Also, Windows 7 and Server 2008 support symlinks, which makes me happy.

Somehow upgrading the version of ESXi gives me an error any time I try to start a VM. It basically says that this ESXi server doesn't support features that the old one did. It won't tell me which features, or offer to disable them. Just refuses to start. Crap.

Now in the process of converting each one from backup into a "new" VM on the server. Might be here a few more hours...

Did you try the vmware converter tool to see if it could convert your old vm features to the new version? It's s free download.

That's what I'm doing, but it will take all night. What I attempted to do was physically move the drives containing the VMs to the new server, adding them to inventory, and starting them. That would have taken about 10 minutes.

Any more details on the id3 tag/symlink process? Did you use a script, or other application?

Also with having such large archives, have you noticed any bit-rot when transferring data between the various systems the data has lived on in the past to the current setup? (esp anything that has come off tape or other non-HDD media).

A car was left in PA since early December with the GPS in it. Temperature was far below the specs. Is it kaput?

Interesting. I was contacted by someone named Brian a few days ago asking if i wanted to sell this site. i wonder if it's the same Brian at SR who seems to have taken over.

I wonder if SR will become like so many review sites, full of fluff and no criticism of hard drive advertisers. :(

Oh no, those benchmaks are not very useful. Where is IOMeter at least?
Crystal is all over the place. Copying files - godo grief?
Subjective noise? I guess Eugene did not sell the decibel meter.

From http://forums.storagereview.net/index.php?showtopic=27940

After a long run, the site has transitioned to a new ownership team.

Which I can guess that means Eugene has sold the site, and

In case you're wondering about me, I used to be part owner the Technology Guide network which included NotebookReview.com Brighthand.com and others. So I have a good foundation in the industry and look forward to bringing my experience to this community.

Might want to check our http://www.notebookreview.com and http://www.technologyguide.com/ to see what the future may hold. (Very sad if that is the future).

PS. On technologyguide.com there is a link right at the bottom of the page to here: http://www.techtarget.com/

Now that last link is interesting.

Wow Merc, I had no idea who you were at SR. It's been so long, I haven't thought of you as anything but Mercutio. Am I the only one that keeps their handle everywhere?

Wow. I hadn't logged in to SR since 2002.
And I'm still user #7. At least the database never crapped out again.
According to their members list, you're user #35 by post count. User #7 is Future Shock and he posted in 2008. I remember some of Future Shock's posts and it didn't seem to come from a Mercutio.

I've seen that Supercaffeinated is still visiting there. I discovered Guatemala coffee thanks to him. That's what I'm drinking right now.

Visit a member profile and check the resulting url for their user number (Davin is 2, Eugene is 5, Mercutio is 7, I'm 108, etc.). I assume that number reflects the order that the user registered with the forum.

I was offsite at the time of the MBF and did not rejoin until Dec 30, so I was over 200.

There is an sbarwick at #9, but sdbarwick is indeed #108. I'm #102 there. I still remember my member number from the old database (the one before the MBF).
