I was interviewed once by a guy that asked an odd question about separating a mixture of liquids and three kinds of solids. The correct answer was irrelevant. Apparently they just wanted some logical attempt to show brain activity. I did not know that was still done.

Thanks for the link. I also found a place that sells the 1 > 4 SATA cables for this card for around $5 each. I read in other places that active cooling is a must for this card. Are you doing anything special with yours? Did you change the heatsink on it or anything?

I have an 80mm fan blowing across it. I left the heatsink alone.

That's the guy I bought mine from (since the name is the same). They weren't "BNIB" though. I guess he's moved up from selling on overclock.net's forum. I'd say throw in an offer that's a bit less and see what happens.

BTW, riddle me this:

I have 5 weights, named M, N, O, P and Q. All 5 weights are different in weight, but I know that they weigh 1g, 2g, 3g, 4g, and 5g, but unsure which weight weighs what?

From 3 test with a balance, I find that:
1. O = M + N. (O is equal weight to that of M and N combined).
2. Q > O. (Q is heavier than O).
3. P < O. (P is lighter than O).

Can I determine what which weight weighs from the above information? And if not, what is the minimum number of additional tests needed to determine what each one weighs?

Yep, I googled his email after contacting him on eBay and asked him about him selling them on overclock (the exact thread you linked). I already worked out a deal which is a little less than what he was asking on eBay ($150) and I plan to buy two of them with shipping included. It will work out to about the same if I bought from the forum given shipping is included for both. Thanks for the info and it's good to hear you've bought from him (assuming with out issue) and he's not some random guy.

I plan to use both of my PCIe 16x slots for both PERC cards and move my video to one of the PCIe 1x slots. I'll likely have to cut the 1x slot to fit my cheapo video card which is a 16x configuration.

No, I'm not 100% sure, but I found a thread on hardocp that someone linked to them for their perc 6i card. They were looking for the same thing as me and said that those back plate work, but they were thin and cheap (which is fine by me).

I only plan to use one of the perc cards right now but I'll have the second one for when I expand the storage. My case should be able to hold 15 drives, so this should work out good for future expansion.

Did you have to cover up the pins for the SMBus issue? I don't think I'll have that issue since I don't have an Intel chipset.

I (and those I've talked about it with) drink sodas for the chemical effects. You have essentially removed the good ones (caffeine and sugar) and replaced it with a mild laxative (Splenda) yet you still have to pay for it.

Aspartame is the sweetener in the bottles I receive. I can't handle all that sugar unless I am working hard outdoors.
Sometimes I imbibe soft drinks that contain caffeine. I don't usually notice the difference.

They showed one of these in operation on 60 minutes or somesuch. They showed the graph of usage, interesting thing was that whilst the majority of sales was Diet and normal Coke, almost every one of the flavors was used at least once.

I welcome the day when a mini version could be deployed in the house.

For the most part I don't drink soda either. I my freshman year of college after I got my first cavity from drinking it all the time (due to easy access).

However, they've got people who don't drink soda covered with the Freestyle machine as well. It offers several flavors of Dasani water and several flavors of Dasani Sensations (carbonated) water as well.

The regular Coke of today is not the same as it was before about 1980 or so.
The Coke I drank in the 60's had real sugar and more caffene. Tasted a lot better too.

There was an amendment to the NAFTA that changed the tariff schedules and resulted in more HFCS being imported to Mexico. Now some MX Coke has HFCS listed as a possible sweetner.

There's a chemical reason for that.

Besides overloading our bodies with empty calories, HFCS also limits Leptin secretion in the digestive system. Leptin is a hormone that signals the brain when you are full.

Therefore, if your brain never gets the message that you are full, you are likely to over-eat and ingest more calories that lead to weight gain.

In addition, this manufactured sweetener increases the production of Ghrelin. Ghrelin is secreted by the stomach and increases your appetite.

Ghrelin sends signals to the brain to indicate that its time to eat and interferes with your body's natural appetite control system. Therefore, HFCS puts your appetite into “hyper-overdrive.”

That's awesome! For everyone I know who has had significant weight loss eliminating soft-drinks has played a significant part.

It depends how often the ejection nozzles are cleaned. Sugar promotes bacterial growth and there will be some on some parts of the equipment.

They could have a water only cleaning cycle at night or even flush hydrogen peroxide though.

As I understand it, the nozzles are flushed without syrup at the beginning and end of each pour. Watch any soft drink dispenser and you'll see it starts and ends with clear liquid. There may be some additional cleaning that is done at some regular interval. I'm certainly no expert on fountain dispensers.
