Oh and never work in the morning. Wait untill you've finished your second cup of coffee and are fully wake up. It normally takes a few hours. If someone asks why you're not doing anything, reply that you're doing something, you are...planning.

After that I wiped out another 1.3 TB. What a rotten weekend. :(

I am repairing my brother's desk top machine.
My sister-in-law forced me to. Her children don't allow her to work on her laptop. It has been on 24/7 for the last 2 weeks.

You know, I don't think we hit kids enough these days. Especially the ones that mess up computers. I developed this philosophy during my kid classes but it seems to apply just fine to your situation too, Paugie.

@Merc, ho-ho-ho
Those kids have had their share, believe me. And 3 of the 4 are college grads with 2 of them bringing home work. The youngest is in junior high (or whatever is the equivalent of the 9th year in school.
And I can anticipate what the next question will be...

I don't think we hold the parents accountable enough these days. They're mostly responsible for the development, discipline, and characteristics of their children. Hitting the kids isn't going to fix the problem.

Well it might stop them breaking the computer in the short term, but it'll generally just keep them quiet for an indefinite period of time. Eventually they'll start whining again and the worry that they'll screw up and break the computer is back and in the end you just have to bite the bullet and replace them, or at the very least replace their exhaust fan.

No wait, that's PSUs, never mind...

BofA today reached a new level of stupid. They'd already given final approval, and I've already signed all the documents. The only thing we're waiting on is for them to fund the loan. This morning, they requested another letter of explanation about some inquiries into my credit rating. These inquiries were the ones THEY submitted when I applied for the loan!

Why would a package be shipped from SoCal to Spokane, WA to Portland, OR and then to Dallas, TX?

I am so bloody sick of all the website pop-up messages proclaiming that my computer is out of date or my "experience" is not supported. :puke-r:

Quite possibly because I don't read the consumerist. I also didn't fully understand the process, and was under the impression that the people I was dealing with wielded some level of power, decision making, or even understanding of how things worked. As it turns out, the people whom I met and felt like working with didn't actually have any power or knowledge at all, and they themselves became so frustrated during the process that they have since quit.

Kevin Rudd has stepped down as Prime Minister, and Julia Gillard will be sworn in as Australia's new Prime Minister shortly.
I didn't pay attention. I thought Howard was still your Prime Minister. Good thing he's gone. He must be doing the laundry in Bush's ranch in Texas.

He was until last night. At a last minute meeting within the party last night, Julia challenged Kevin for the leadership of the party, and asked for a vote amongst the party. Kevin seeing the writing on the wall didn't contest her challenge, and stepped down as leader of the Australian Labour Party.

Let's hope there is a shake up of the members profiles, and Conroy will be let go as Communications minister and the "Great Firewall of Australia" and the "Great Internet Filter" will become a dead policy.

Thankfully Little Jack Boot Johnnie has been gone for a little while. He did a lot of damage to the shooting sports whilst in charge.

There's nothing quite like feeling earthquakes in Michigan... I felt yesterday's Quebec quake while sitting at my desk at work.

Just finished watching The Pacific, it wasn't as good as Band of Brothers, but it's still worth watching.

That's on my list for the near future.

I watched all of Breaking Bad on the advice of someone I will no longer trust to make judgments about anything, based on his favorable comparisons to The Wire. I found it to be mediocre and essentially un-compelling, though I did stick through all three seasons.

And I'm sitting in my office today through a power outage, because the power is also out at my apartment and there's more light here.

WTF happened to Gatorade? There used to be only the one kind, Stokely Gatorade. Now there are so many different numbers and colors, I don't know which one to buy.

What floor were you on?

It is no fun being in a serious quake when objects are hitting you in the head, glass is breaking all around, and water and power fails. I've suffered in three of them. :(

I am on the 2nd / top floor. There was a noticeable side to side swaying. It's a modern steel and concrete building.

Thankfully I've never been in one of those.

Speaking of mortgages, I got a letter in the mail yesterday letting me know that IBM Lender Business Process Services would now be servicing my mortgage instead of Chase Home Finance. Who knew IBM was in the mortgage servicing business. :dunno:

I guess they have to do something since they don't make or sell computers anymore.
