Something Random

Who broke what? (bones or servers).
We don't work in IT, so there aren't any servers around. No bones have been broken either.

However, the magnets are strong enough to equal a serious finger pinching experience of the blood blister variety so there's no a lot of incentive to want to "play" with them.

Full of potential, but sure to go wrong. The only hope is that the stories are worth it.

That's what I always say to strippers when they're down about their job, which is often. Especially on days when they don't make any money or just after some douchebag has asked them to do something incredibly inappropriate.
They do all have good stories though.

Twitter is getting worse, I keep opting out of email and they keep sending them. This one was a mail asking me to advertise on twitter, I guess we all saw that coming too.

I own it and the first expansion. It's a bunch of fun in a group setting. It's much like Apples to Apples but with an R/X rated theme. It doesn't always replay well in the same evening or weekend, but giving it a couple week rest and playing with different people is fun and simple.

Instagram seems to be causing people to make their blurry pictures with poor color rendition even blurrier and with worse color. Is anyone else noticing this?

I tried to teach a class tonight that included a student who was so completely opposed to using the internet that I had to ask him to leave.

He said he thought he was taking a computer class, not an internet class, and that the internet is where all the filth in the world comes from.

Which, granted, is kind of why I like it.

I know Slashdot has gone downhill, but Geeknet sold off Slashdot, FreeCode and Sourceforge to Dice Holdings...

While I tend to read ./ daily due to habit (rarely if ever post), I do have a few projects on Sourceforge that I maintain... just hope that they don't f**k over Sourceforge as there are many, many useful projects hosted there... (I would change to GitHub, but they lack a few minor yet useful things that SF has).

The internet is not "where all the filth in the world comes from." Someone created it and then placed it there. Most of the filth is related to Adobe Flash anyway.

Digg got sold not that long ago for a pittance as well. To me, Slashdot is still far and away the best place to learn about IT issues outside my immediate needs and interests. I pick up so much random, useful stuff in discussions there. I can't believe it's only worth some fraction of $20M.

@Maxburn, try telling ladies on a dating web site you don't want kids and see how far you get.

No, it would go to 10.9 on everything except one category where you would inexplicably be a 10.7. RAID10 of PCIe SSDs? Too bad. Your disk subsystem is a 10.7.

At the moment my complaint is that it thinks my 4Ghz Hexa-Core is only a 7.8; everything else is 7.9. I can get it to 7.9, but need to be at 4.5Ghz, and that gets a bit loud.

Out of context quote from Merlin Man from Roderick On The Line"

"only the balls, putting that on a card"

Ohh. I thought it was a promo item somehow related to the former hard drive division.

I just had a weird phone call.

Over the weekend, the strip club where my friend works had its 20th anniversary. They were doing giveaways for customers who got dances.
My friend apparently used my name and phone number to enter, because I won an ipad. Which is obviously hilarious, because it's the second time this month I've won a tablet AND the second time I've won an ithing.

I can't get a girlfriend to save my fucking life, but man I can win the shit out of some drawings for personal electronics.

Maybe if you did not hang around at the erotic dance club so much, and found a wholesome activity instead, you'd find more appropriate female companionship.
