Apparently my bowser is missing Java. Is that too evil or like the Flash?

My lady friend just moved in to her first apartment. She found out her next door neighbors are Mormon missionaries. Her idea of a good SSID for her new place: "Bride of Godzildo"

Sounds like great neighbors. How is Godzildo relevant?

How much pron can you watch? :D

Netflix hasn't had skin flicks since about two weeks before its IPO back in 2002. It used to have Cinemax-type Andy Sedaris movies and Playboy videos.
The porn comes in much, MUCH faster.

If you lived in the same building with a bunch of people who believe that the residents of central Indiana somehow haven't heard of Jesus AND also sincerely think that it's the revealed word of God that American Indians are the 13th Tribe of Israel (an idea that is 100% disproven by actual science), you might find it a bit humorous to make some effort to offend them.

Uh, yeah. I looked up the godzildo and it is something different that I never heard of.
I'm not convinced that all the Mormons know what that means.
I thought there were more than 13 native American tribes, but I've spent much more time in the Navaho Nation than others.

Not evil at all, I've disabled Java in the browser as well. (No need for Java in the browser, as no where I go to uses Java Applets for functionality).

AFAIK, most public sites no longer use Java Applets anymore, as doing it in plain HTML4/5 w/javascript will give you a better experience and is ultimately more portable. However, I'm lead to believe a lot of internal in house stuff still uses Java Applets.

One thing I would like to be able to do in a browser is define where on the web a plugin can be active/disabled, and not have to rely on plugins to do this for me.

Today is the saddest day of my life. My mom passed away earlier this morning while being in-home hospice. She had been battling cancer for about 3 years and it finally won. She fought hard, she was strong, and honestly never complained. She was a wonderful person that gave so much to so many people and never asked for anything in return. She volunteered for over 14 years helping elderly people in an adult day health center helping to make their lives a little happier. She always supported my sister and I in everything we did and was a wonderful wife to my father. My heart is broken today. It has been an incredibly rough final month watching her wither away. I am lucky to have had her as my mother and appreciate the time I had with her. I know it's easy to say life isn't fair sometimes but for her sake I don't believe it was. She was such a wonderful and good person that didn't deserve this.

My sincerest condolences. Having gone through the loss of my father in 2006, I know how difficult times like this are, and also how unfair life seems when loved ones who led a good life are suddenly taken from us. If it's any consolation, eventually life will seem normal again, but it will take a while. I recall going from sadness to disbelief to anger and then to a long time of numbness. It took six months before I was able to enjoy doing anything, and probably a few years before life seemed normal again. You'll get through this on your own terms. Be strong for your dad. He needs it now.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss and am left with just these hollow words in the hopes it can help you in some small way.
Please try and remember the good times, and not focus on the bad.

I lost my father in 1996 and I know nothing that can be put in words here can make you feel nothing less than miserable for now. All I can tell you is that it will pass. You'll never forget her, but at some point in the future, you'll remember the good moments more than the last few weeks.

My condolences.

It is always sad to know that one will not see a person so dear to one's heart and most especially a mother.
But there is also a reason to rejoice for one remembers how this person is an integral part of who one is. May thanksgiving for who your mother was, not only to you but also to countless others who cherish her memory and her life, be part of this phase you are passing through.
Still, your loss is grievous. May you be strong and stronger as your mother was a pillar in her time.

Thanks everyone for the supportive words. It has been a blur and stressful for my family. She's in a better place now that she is no longer suffering.

I got to do something amazing last night. The Chicago Symphony, Symphony Chorus and Children's Chorus performed the complete score to "The Two Towers" at the Ravinia festival. I never thought I'd see a live performance of it. It was - and this is not hyperbole - breathtaking.

I wish I would have known about that.

I just caught the end of an episode of Axe Cop "Birthday month" on TV. It was the strangest TV episode of anything I have ever seen. It felt like an extreme Tim Burton meeting an extreme version of the Grinch who stole Xmas. I had never even heard of Axe Cop and what I saw I really liked. I'm now seeing where I can DL it so I can see the entire episode.

Got an e-mail from Amazon:

Hello,

We now have delivery date(s) for the order you placed on August 15, 2013 (Order# ...):

"..."
Estimated arrival date: September 24, 2013 - October 03, 2013

If you want to check on the progress of your order, take a look at this page in Your Account:

So something was shipping from Amazon and listed as Prime with no additional notes, and it won't be available for 5 weeks? Thanks, Amazon.

I wouldn't be so annoyed, but this is the first time they've done this crap.

I've had that happen when a manufacturer is out of something. The first time I ordered a set of Cards Against Humanity, most recently.

I read through some of the CAH deck. The fact that this game "needed" to exist explains a lot about why I never win at apples to apples.
